it looks like he's trying to look jewish. yiddish same thing. hmm...interesting.

i'm impressed that galliano does 2 collections per season and then 1 every couture season.

that's 6 shows a year total.

vow.
No wonder he is doing this stuff... he is bored already

I dunno, in a weird way, I kinda like it. It's hardly wearable, but IMO, Galliano is very good when he is inspired by various cultures. From what I've seen so far, this collection reminds me a bit of his Russian inspired collection he did for Dior HC S/S '02. I'll have to see the whole thing of course, but it does promise to be interesting.

 i had such high hopes for this collection since I LOVED the s/s 04 collection...

the ones I "like"......out of this very collection... :ninja:

seriously, did he just sew all the leftovers together? :ninja:

Been there, done that! C'mon, John, you gotta do a better job than Dior. Your own label is going down! Plus that horrible Galliano Homme collection if anyone has seen it.
Like YSL said, john is a genius of showmanship but do we really need that much theatre in fahsion! remember this is FASHION not DRAMA!

PARIS (AFP) - British designer John Galliano conjured up a whimsical vision of the woman traveller for next winter, offering a collection of patchwork clothes that seemed drawn from a mix of world folk traditions
With a suitcase strapped to her back and a hat box perched on her head, in a logo newspaper print dress or a man's suit pulled in tight in the back with a string, Galliano's women did not represent specific folklore heroines.
But the British designer -- who often draws inspiration from his extensive travels for both his own collection and his work for Christian Dior -- made references to a myriad of countries throughout the madcap show late Saturday.
Billowing crinoline dresses covered in fur pelts trapper-style, a Bolivian hat, masculine chalk-stripes and layers of petticoats in wild contrasting prints over full baggy trousers: Galliano likes to keep his guests guessing.
And they love to see what he'll come up with next.
Each gag or witty detail earned applause -- one model wore a hat that doubled as a storage rack for aluminum camping dishes, another dragged a ragged rolling cart behind her and a third looked like a poor Scarlett O'Hara who used the living room curtains to make herself a gigantic ball gown.
Galliano ended his autumn-winter 2004-05 show with the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", one of the North's anthems during the American Civil War.
Amid all the hoopla, the British designer put a few pieces on the runway that could find their way onto the sidewalks, like pompom cardigans, denim trousers or floral print chiffon dress. Check the stores in a few months.

i keep thinking about how great last years Fall/Winter collection was with the "i love lucy" look  I wish it would come back

 This is a good collection for John Galliano, I have to admit. Though he did this kind of clothes before (ethnic, street fused together) and used the same technique, I still feel dazzled. The huge gowns were immensly detailed and dramatic and bringing together so many cultures but not representing specific ones. Probably I like it because it was what it was suppose to be: A show to dazzle and re-energize. ;)

*Though its not my style. :ninja:

This is a mad improvement from his Dior collection, but his Galliano shows are always better I find...

Can't wait to see some of the textures and fabrics translated into truly ready to wear!

I loved these ones the most out of the collection.

And now that he launched his Galliano Hommes line, that'll be 8 shows a year. :woot:
I don't know how he gets all those clothes, um, together.

Karolina Kurkova looked rather exotic on the picture posted by Lena. She's enough to make me look at the show.

Wow---some very cool, funny stuff, but I can imagine that it is extremely difficult work to model for Galliano. Those dresses are HUGE and some of them are oddly binding and restrictive, to say nothing of the suitcases strapped randomly about the models' bodies and the ginormous, steeply-tilted hats.

Seeing the girls getting all rigged up would have probably been even more entertaining than the show itself!

I wonder how long it takes them to get all that makeup off and get all of the rats out of their hair. Some of those girls looked like they'd about have to shave their heads after they were done. They should get some hazard pay.

I actually really love this collection. It's so energetic and pretty! A world of improvement from Dior's pukefest.

This is what I've come to like about Galliano--creativity, beauty, and fun. The Dior show was a disaster because underneath all of the makeup and hair and nonsense, the clothes were just downright ugly. Here, when you strip away all of those elements, you get stunning, unique pieces that everyone would love to wear. That ribbed leather coat with rose embroidery is incredible!

Call me crazy, but I loved it. Not wearable, but really beautiful. Galliano is in top form whenever he cross-references different cultures. I just loved the color and print, it was uplifting in a way. And those little newspaper print mini-suitcases were great. So much better then Dior, nothing new or innovative, but definitly what he's good at. :flower:

Thank you so much for taking the words straight out of my mouth!!

That is seriously one thing that many people do not realise about Galliano shows. They're kind of like a game of I Spy: the girls wearing mounds and mounds of layers of clothing. You have to look at each configuration and pick out each individual piece. If you break all of the insane looks up, you will have many of gorgeous and wearable outfits! And that isn't even the beginning.. many more wearable pieces are still to come once this collection hits the boutiques :)

This picture is so funny, she's so wide and flat somehow. Looks like she was run over by a steam roller. :P
