John Galliano leaving Dior? | Page 2 | the Fashion Spot

John Galliano leaving Dior?

No one can do what he can do and Dior as a label is very lucky to have him, he has taken the label to another level and brought spirit in to it. Nobody can do Dior as he does it.

I am shocked as well. I'm glad he has his own line to work on if he leaves because I love watching his shows and creativity (not in person of course) so I'm glad we'll still be able to see that somewhere if not with Dior.

It makes me think of Tom Ford and Gucci. I used to not be able to think of one without thinking of the other and couldn't imagine them as separated. But we've all survived that split. If he does go I think we'll get over it too. After all that's one of the major characteristics of fashion, constantly changing and evolving.

He is definitely going to survive if he leave Dior. Then He can take his own line to new highs.

Upon reading this I thought "oh no"..but then I thought about how Dior has changed in the past few seasons. I feel that with Dior weeding out their non-traditional customer, a lot of the excitement I associated with Dior is gone. So I wouldn't be sad to see him leave Dior, as he still has his own line.

I can't imagine Dior Haute Couture without him.I think a bit of the creativity will be gone.

I do miss some of the funkier dior clothes from the early 00's though. It has gotten a bit dull.

^^I'm of the same opinion as you, if Galliano leaves the Dior Haute Couture is going to suffer.

no i don't believe this either.....at least i really hope this is not true!!! what a nightmare that would be....

Sounds alright with me. John's past three ready-to-wear seasons have been really commercial, and it was highly publicized that the execs were trying to damper Galliano's creativity for more salable clothes. I wouldn't be surprised if John would want to leave.

And with the galliano line, he should be in a pretty good financial place himself...

While I certainly see your point, Gallion gets a lot of creative freedom on his namesake line, and part of me thinks the dainty 50's vibe we've been getting is of Galliano's own choice. :flower:

Is it true? What is the reason? Is it because of the death of his assistant Steve? What will be John's future?

I hope it is not true...either way, I can't even begin to imagine Dior without Galliano. It's like imagining Chanel without Karl, you simply cannot fathom it in your wildest dreams!:lol:

I hope John stays with Dior for a long time. I'm just hoping that this new Dior concept doesn't last long. I can tell that John feels uncomfortable with it. I mean, just as he's being forced to be a slave to the archives, his own line all of a sudden bursts with energy and creativity and excitement, while he leaves Dior as an average, commercial, 15 minute bore of a show. And you can also notice that he doesn't take such extravagant bows at Dior anymore. At Galliano, he comes out laughing and smiling, posing and looks like he is so happy, and at Dior, he hardly shows his face...RTW SS 08, anyone...didn't even walk the length of the runway.:innocent:

I hope that John and Toledando come up with a perfect compromise of John's creativity and energy and Toledando's desire for a more elite and exclusive clientelle....and I hope they do it soon!!!:angry::angry:

every fashin week starts with gossip, but if this is true, it might be the most tragic thing in 21'st century fashion!

Then i must have a very wild imagination. :p

It would be very sad to see him leave; but on the other hand we might get to see a totally different side to Dior.
i wonder who would? could? replace him?

I love Galliano, and honestly I would be trilled if he left Dior. His work for his own brand is much more interesting, and his Dior collections are getting more and more ridiculous. As for who could replace him, I would love to see Giambattista Valli for Dior:woot: Maybe even Theyskens (it would be better for Theyskens too, as Nina Ricci is such a waste of his talent)^_^
