Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of JW Anderson & Christian Dior

I can't believe just how quickly his talent and reputation have come into question. Humanity is so fickle.

It's so awkward and embarrassing in movement! The length, the bow, the cocoon shape, and the plunging neckline... It will easily go down in history as one of the worst red carpet dress. To say that, I am any time for sexy looks like JLo's jungle dress but there is everything wrong about this dior look.

I like it 🤐 it's a different shape but it looks hot, she's working it! At least it's not another long sleveed matronal dress.

Call me biased. I don't think he has that much talent to offer. His career was built upon arty and quirky gimmicks that you can see his lacking of traditional techniques and skills as a designer. At Dior, without those gimmicks (like in red carpet dressing) he just doesn't know how to properly construct a garment when he tries to get closer to the spirit of Dior.

Looks like he is referencing Monsieur Marc Bohan's Dior from the 70s but his designs were sexy and glam, this is not, the fabric and sloppy tunic are giving maternity wear. I had the pleasure of meeting Monsieur Bohan many years ago, very under rated as a designer, he died a year or so back at 97.

I feel like his talent and reputation as a designer have always been in question though. Many see him as a designer who relies on visual gimmicks and collaborations to make up for the fact that his technical skills are broadly lacking.

What's never been in question is his talent and reputation when it comes to storytelling and marketing, which he's always excelled at. This Venice launch has been a clear misstep though (and probably at the direction of the suits).

To me his appointment at Dior really signals the triumph of marketing and PR spin over actual design talent (which is sad), but at the same time, maybe that's what Dior needs now? MGC was technically gifted, but had a very tepid and beige vision of Dior...yes it sold well, but how many people in the industry were checking for Dior under her tenure? It was a total bore. Despite my misgivings about Jonathan, at least I'm interested in Dior again and maybe that's the real goal after the dull MGC years.

Mia Goth's dress is like interpretation of this one.

would have been so cool to replicate the miniature in big IRL as concept it looks already a JWA version of the original in stead it looks like shein latest drop like for real flat and fast fashion and Mia is such a cool young lady she almost makes me except the dress but even she is not GOD.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLL x10000. Everything about this is wrong. The proportions are way off, the jacket is too short for his torso, the pants are too slim for that jacket silhouette, the shoes are cheap and nasty looking, the buttons of the jacket are not sewn on properly, and don't get even me started on that neck brace! My goodness.

He would look more confortable wearing a straightjacket...

Question is: Is there intelligent life at Dior HQ?? No one notices how ridiculously weird that poor actor looks?? No one notices the jacket is like several sizes small for him??

They need to get the people who were in charge of celebrities and PR at Loewe to come over and replace all the dinosaurs who are currently at Dior, who are clearly shockingly bad in their decision making and also with their judgement and taste.

Loewe rarely had missteps with their celebrity ambassadors or their looks. I wonder who was in charge of that? Does anyone know?

i kinda appreciated JWA but omg his tailoring is AWFUL, nothing about it makes sense... there's no fullness in the chest, the lapel roll is pretty much non existent, theres a weird pulling in the stomach area bc the suit is waaay too tight and not properly canvassed (maybe fusible interfacing was used), the sleeves are also too tight+short so as a result the underneath layer is bunching up against the lining, the narrow shoulders are clashing against the huge lapel+it also feels like they repurposed the shoulder pads from a much bigger suit.

if josh, who is tall, lean, athletic and with good proportions, looks short, shapeless, meek and unathelic in JWA's suits I cant imagine what they will look like an average 175cm tall man with a slightly pronounced belly
