Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of JW Anderson & Christian Dior

I had a high expectation before his debut menswear show and was not so certain after that. For me, even though Kim Jones was dragged constantly for his collabs and mostly hated for how he ruined Fendi womenswear. His Dior men other than those cash grab collabs, had always been a highlight in Menswear calander for me. There were always some lovely and balanced design tricks to make his menswear feels more opluent. They were not only achived by fabris but design language.
JWA's debut collection and so far those celebrity endorsements, with the focus on shirts and ties, make the brand image look very middle class. JWA's Dior so far does not feel expensive, which is what I associate with what KJ and MGC's Dior to be (boring or not, they do look well made and well designed in a way to justify that price).
And for those customized women's look, I am sorry these PR moves are looking so desperate. The constant needs to be seen by everyone on the plant earth is not what a brand with the volumn and caliber of Dior should do. It screams lack of confidence and cheap. So far nothing worked well enough to completely rival MGC's offers. And people inevitably would compare. Also these customized look could limit what he could offer for his debut womenwear if anything.

I liked looking at some KJ Dior Men because it felt like a couture collection for men at Dior. Which I think has always been the essence of Dior Homme since Hedi constituted it. I loved some looks Jonathan did for his debut menswear but I felt like it was misplaced—it was too preppy and street for Dior. Kim and Hedi did street at Dior but there was always an underlying sense of tightness and construction.

Jonathan’s womenswear from the previews never looked opulent and well-constructed. I’ve always thought Dior should look sumptuous, even MGC understood this. I thought he would’ve used his art house tendencies to bring freshness to the atelier but my God these clothes are just there and don’t stoke any emotion. Worse, they’re poorly constructed and shouldn’t carry the Dior tag.

Only JWA could make Raf look like the new Cristobal Balenciaga LOL

I never looked back after MGC left Dior (thankfully, it was the right kind of closure). At that time, I genuinely rooted for JWA, hoping he’d bring a sharper edge, something that felt less formulaic. And honestly, I still wanna give him the benefit of the doubt, it feels too early to dismiss him entirely. But when you place his work side by side with Raf’s… it’s just undeniable. Raf’s brilliance wasn’t just about design, it was about rewriting the codes, about vision that felt both intellectual and visceral. And that’s the kind of depth I can’t help but ache for.

Wow, it looks like after early Galliano no one can do Dior!

Raf very hit and miss, more miss than hit.
MGC - I can’t even
JWA so far… what q disappointment! Why did I have my hopes so high? I don’t even know.

Cant wait till his fist show. Doing menswear first was such a bad decision. Money wise, maybe ok, image wise, terrible.

What is going on with all these bad red carpet looks… Everything looks so tired, unfinished, rushed and very creased, what is happening? Where are the elaborate teams taking care of the details? Everything looks very last minute… Rooting for Jonathan but these red carpet looks ain’t it!!

The silence from Maria Grazia Chiuri's loudest critics/influencers is deafening.
Laughs in ideservecouture and hautelamode, uh?
Always the first in line when it came to dragging Maria down, analyze and over criticize any breath she took. What can you expect from people still mourning for Galliano drag Queen couture in 2025...just because Galliano was "FASHION", laughable.
I am sure they are deliberately avoiding criticizing the custom looks cause they don't want to be cut off from the PR, wishing to get an invitation for the most anticipated show of next fashion week.

Wow, the worst look is always the next one... I think this has been a terrible idea to utilize the red carpet to show the (terrible) previews. Really frustrated!
It’s so hard to contextualize too.
We don’t know if those looks are isolated moments for the Redcarpet (a bit like Vuitton custom looks) or a preview for the soon to be revealed show.

It’s even more confusing to me because I think the menswear out of the context of the show seems to be used for some kind of method dressing and doesn’t seem very representative of A vision.

Not because he is my favorite but I think that Haider is walking that line more smoothly. There’s a coherence from the show to the campaigns to the celebrities. It could have been more strong and impactful but it’s coherent.

We are getting a LOT of Dior!

Funny how the best looks so far is the one that resembles the most Maria and classic Dior in general LOL
The bar jacket is much better than the demodé drag Queen-eque version seen on Sabrina Carpenter, however I still prefer Raf's and Maria's versions.

Best look so far, but please Dior use-the-steamer.
