There are many things I don’t understand, but first of all, I hold the celebrity stylists responsible for letting their clients wear these middle-of-the-road looks. It’s like they’re doing their jobs with their eyes closed.
Second, I know it’s Dior, a major house, but why flood the carpet with “previews” all at once?
Didn’t Delphine say Dior should focus on quality? Then prove it: design one knockout dress for one actual A-lister. Instead, we’re drowning in mediocrity and overexposure. Not a single look stood out. Or well, that blue dress on Alba stood out for all the wrong reasons. Honestly, it would’ve been smarter to skip the red carpet entirely before the debut.
As for Dior’s PR strategy under MGC, they kept pushing for more and more placements, on and off the red carpet. In the end, they even invited D-list influencers to the show and totally diluted the brand. If I’m not mistaken, Mathilde Favier is still running PR for the women’s side—and it’s not like she just started on the job.
Yes, we can criticize JWA, though I doubt how much direct involvement he actually has in these looks. But let’s analyze the circumstances that allow this kind of mediocrity to happen.
As for the Mikey Madison video, come on. I like her, but a ‘what’s in my bag’?
How about designing something desirable first—then we can talk about marketing gimmick.
End of rant
