It's not that far fetched!
There were people outside the event protesting Pete.

^People protesting? (don't use the 'J' word, thread might close...again)

That's just silly?!

I know what I see. But I won't judge.

well, i hate to say it, but those people... didn't they have anything better to do...

i feel sorry for those people...
belive me, i was a part of proptest, political, against Milosevic, and it had sense... my country went to hell and back so were protesting... but we had a goal... protesting over some star, superstar,is just tooooo silly for me...

^ Good point, I edited....

I think people were protesting him b/c they know how much young people look up to him. They were warning not to end up like him.

well, they should go to the sun and some other papers, and if those papers would stop writing about the thing, that would maybe have some effects...
but,is pete only problem in britain????
i still think that ppl who do these stuff like protesting against sth without personal reasons, just want to be like that people...

I agree that there are better things to be protesting about but in an age of celebrity culture, it is worthwhile remembering how important these people are. And this man is probably the prime twat who gets media coverage. It is ridiculous. The papers should not fuel it... they should ignore him. To be fair, I do think people are getting bored of these two finally.

^True. Russell Brand seems to be the new face of dissolution. Of couse, nobody will ever be able to touch Shane McGowan, the real queen mum of the dissolute.

^ And all three deeply boring, unfunny people. Me thinks there is a correlation. Actually for all the hatred, Russell seems to be the least odious of the three, with Shane simply the worst example of a human being.

I thought Brand was a pain in the **** 'til a friend showed me the 'Live!' DVD which is hysterically funny. Anyways... I thought you were a Doherty fan, Sienna?

The press should ignore so many people, and focus on other things, but people like to hear trash :(

And I thought he was a pain in the **** till I saw him accept the award at the Evening Standard Awards... or was it the Time Out Awards? In either case he was awesome in his acceptance speech. And last season of Big Brother was the first I sullied my elevated standards with (for obvious reasons... curiosity being the main one) and he seemed very quick witted in his aftershow show. Oh and there was also the ""Bob Geldof. Really no surprise that he's such an expert on famine, he has after all been dining out on "I Don't Like Mondays" for 30 years...'. comment. I think someone needs to take that humourless so and so down a peg or two once in a while.

We all make mistakes in questions of taste PoC. I think what is important is the learning and moving on!

Paris Hilton being trashy is one thing, and Jessica Simpson not knowing tuna from chicken is one thing, but glorification of abuse is another. If it was a question of him doing whatever he does to himself, I wouldn't care. If all he did was mess up some self involved middle class kids, I wouldn't care. But these things extend to South American cartels, to gun crime, death, prostitution rings, child abuse, third world civil wars, gun running, violence against the police etc etc.

God I would hate to be in love with someone like Pete Doherty. Don't understand how Kate Moss stays with him, it's weird because she almost looks smug! His skin looks so sallow and grey those NME award pictures are really rather sad. Sometimes I feel a bit uncomfortable thinking of the paps taking those pictures of someone who is clearly a wreck.
