Kate Moss For TopShop

Hi again...does anyone have this dress? Is it very short? I'm about 5' 10" and am hoping it's not crotch skimming! Does it run true to size? Are you happy with it? TIA

I'm sorry you don't understand this. A price is a price no matter where you buy it. Your shipping charge is where you pay extra to make up for those costs incurred. So one thing has nothing to do with the other. I bought from TopShop before they had the US site and paid what the conversion cost was. I buy from HQ Hair and pay exactly what the conversion rate is. It's the same if I flew to London and bought it. They wouldn't charge me more because I live in the US. I think TopShop is just being lazy and doubling the price (which was the conversion rate last year...but that's not the case now with the economy.) 60 GBP converts to approx. $89 and they charging $125. That's obscene. But I really wanted the jacket so I paid it. It probably is cheaper to buy it at the jacked up prices on ebay but I'd rather buy from the store. Hope that puts it in the right view for you.

This is pretty standard practice. ALL American jeans brands are massively overpriced in the UK, for example. I used to be able to buy j brand jeans from revolve in the US, pay the shipping to the UK and it would still be half the price of the UK RRP. Traditionally, everything is priced pound-to-dollar no matter where they're produced: raybans, when I've looked at them, are about 40% cheaper in the US than the UK. It also might just be that Topshop are trying to position themselves at a different place in the US market (quirky store in NY with desirable cult pieces from Europe) than they are in the UK market (one on every high street, first port of call for any fashionable teenager).

Plus, most stores play it safe on conversion -the dollar conversion will always work out more than the pound RRP because it's a British store. I feel really sorry for everyone in the ROI paying Euro prices, because most high street stores have Euro prices that are 120-150% the pound prices even though the exchange rate has them almost equal.

Point is: everyone understands what you mean, but it doesn't make it unusual. And Brits are bitter, this has been happening to us forever.

the one shoulder black bodycon dress that kate wore in ID magazine should be on its way to me soon...:woot:

im surprised this dress isnt more popular than it is. it hasnt sold out yet on topshop.com.

and im ordering it through a friend in the UK instead of ordering it from topshop.com. that way i save 30$.

I just recieved my winged suede jacket, and it is lovely, a little small in size, but okay all in all. :)
I agree too! I had to get a 10 in store beause the other wouldnt allow me to move my arms!
They do indeed come up small. Certainly too small to wear over anything remotely bulky.

it's weird because I remember trying on that blue sequin flapper dress from an earlier collection and I had to go down to a 6 and I'm normally a 8 or a 10..but the shorts and the jackets came really small..

Weirdddd.
Design flaw? Maybe they didnt consider the fabric thickness?

IMO their sizes are fairly strange anyway. Bust and hips I think are usually ok but by their size chart, they expcet a size 14 girl to have a 31 inch waist and a size 16 to have a 33 inch waist. Which I think is fairly unrealistic for a lot of people (not all by any means, but a lot)! It's a proven fact that waists are getting bigger since we no longer corset ourselves in rubber or steel on a daily basis and I have SO many size 14 friends who can't buy the fitted items there because they cut in at the waist, its a huge shame ]:

I brought the embroidered dress which was £75. The dress is gorgeous but my criticism is that its not lined and the fabric is so sheer you can see everything through it. I would have kind of expected a lining for that price. I love the dress though but don't really know what to wear under it to cover my modesty.

Here is the image of the dress.Im almost thinking of sending it back because I feel slightly ripped off :(

Image from Topshop.

^ It looks really nice, but i can see why you're annoyed. i'd probably wear an AA bandeau and leggings underneath but it's up to you really.

oh yeah, that dress is really nice, I was thinking about buying that one too, but it's to pricey IMO.

Its sorted.I got a long tunic-esq vest from topshop which covers my modesty :) problem is the boyf loves the £12 more than the £75 dress ... typical :)

hey girls, does anyone know how the size runs of this leather jacket Kate is wearing?

There's one listed on ebay and these are the measurements they say are for a size UK 8

Shoulder - 24 inches
Bust - 30 inches
Waist - 27 inches
HTH

^If they are accurate measurements than I guess they run small? 30 inch bust seems pretty small for an 8..

hi Gingerpye ... have you received your liberty print jacket yet? i found one on ebay in a UK size 10, just wanted to check what the sizing is like before i make a bid

Not yet. Hoping to get it tomorrow or so. If you can wait I'll post as soon as I try it on!
