Lanvin F/W 2005.06 Paris

good observation cerfas-about Aquascutum. It isn't the most progessive collection, but its very wearable-and i also like the outfits you posted...the jersey dresses stuck out in a good way...i particuarly like the one with the black v top...he could have done more with that instead of going the other end into the flowers which i wish had delivered the punchy element it was supposed to...it could have been cool.

It's preety, nothing new, but fits Lanvin.... this one is my fave look

It's interesting, we want collections to pop as a whole, but a lot of times designers do great work but the collection doesn't leave us with a particularly strong impression. It must be so hard to find a balance of making great garments, staying true to yourself, and getting noticed.

alber elbaz to take over lanvin menswear?

i heard recently from a salesperson at the lanvin boutique that alber elbaz will be designing the menswear collection as well next winter? i'm not sure if it's fw2005-06 or fw2006-07. anyone can confirm?

In fact, I've got the same question. I've recently discovered 4 interesting carnation corsages, in fabrics reminding me of as for men's dressshirts, at Lanvin's boutique for men, yet I still like the ones for womenswear more for higher vividness. :flower:

Much looked forward to if it's true.

He has to be one of the few designers who make that short in the front, long in the back gown look thing work

It's romantic and sassy at the same time...and then I love how it almost looks as if its made from...what do you call it...sweatpant material?? Kind of like this, which is actually cashmere:

you got to hand it to him for creating such modern elegance-making it seem so easy...i actually never saw any of his stuff for ysl...but if stefano was a dud i could see them kicking themselves over there now. ysl himself said he had wished he had invented blue jeans because they were the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. they have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity-which is exactly what these dresses are about.

Birdofparadise, you're right, it's a potentially awkward or ugly look that he makes work. I think bruno Pieters does it quite well, too. attached is a dress from the S/S 05 collection, photo from brunopieters.com

I suppose it would be pretty hard to top his ss05 collection, but this was wonderful all the same - the detailing was exquisite

I thought the blue flower print dress was sort of iffy--- it reminded me a little of a curtain, but I don't think it was disastrously horrible...

I really liked this one, but I'm not too much a fan of the model who's, well... modeling...it.

i like the uneven hem dresses posted here and some of the coats from liberty rose's post but really this is the most so-and-so Elbaz ever did for lanvin.. plus i was astonished on how much those dresses seem to be taking lead from Bruno's older dress..

praying Elbaz returns in full force for ss06
is he really taking over Lanvin menswear?
somehow i can see why he may be taking over menswear, time to capitalise on his much desrved rise..

btw, i dont fully recall Lanvin menswear designer but she's been doing brilliantly ..at least on the commercial side, shes been with lanvin for years now and shes been very much respected by her clientelle

Lanvin Fall 2005: Meh or Whoa!

For me, it was the most anticipated show of the Fall 05 season, and I'm afraid to say that after a spring show that was to me like a truckload of sugar to a 5 year old it seemed a little bland. For Alber Elbaz to make Lanvin what it is today is amazing and so he can get away with anything. What i love about him though, is that he doesn't chose to take that attitude, he really delivers. Now, the fall show was still spectacular! I like how he did less of the raw edges. It was lovely to see what direction he is going to take for next spring (I think that's what those two floral outfits signified) And he made extraordinary dresses from something your hanes undies are made out of!

true BUT he jumped on the print wagon a tiny bit too late no?
fashion mood is going back to minimalism, monochromes and treatment details... not sure if there is much excitement left for prints, the market seems to be a bit tired of them already, regardless the blow up element which sure looks quite fresh and surreal.

i dont think Elbaz has what we call 'an eye' for prints, unless he's been developing one very recently.
