^ Well ... let us know ;)

Where is that bondage thread you were starting m'dear? :D

It's going to be titled "Agent Provocateur : James Bondage" :woot:

Last season at Lanvin, it was so so over-rated, and I certainly think that wasn't even the best of Alber nor Lanvin, his 1st collection was by far more sensational than last one, and it was time for him to change. Then 2 months ago, the cruise collection came out, it was apparently a better collection with stronger silhouette, everybody atlks abt the floppy hat but the obi was there already, geisha inspiration exposed.
With this s/s show, I like the change that Alber has tried, and I appreciate his courage. As he said on style.com (video), it was about the strength of women, and you can obviously feel that strength just by looking at the rigid line, harder fabric and the shoes of cos (he was trying to get Terry de Havilland to design shoes for this collection, but he declined). It's a very radical collection in Alber's standard, and I like the change. I mean, the delicate/ womanly/ fragile started to fade away last season, (since it's been talk abt so much), and the main concern was the love affair between Alber & the skirt had become cliche. I can't wait to see a mature transformed result next season.
Do I like this show? It's better than Rochas, and not quite upthere with Balenciaga, YSL and Galliano, in my opinion.

Wow. Those shoes, are...spectacular. I love how it seems as if it's teetering and the platform isnt quite under the ball off the foot. Lovely, esp the peektoe versions.

The shoes are quite interesting... shiny shiny vinyl is hot...... :woot:

I liked the plastic flowers they put on the models' hair and on the clothes.....

Me too. It adds some playfulness with all the dark colors and such...

I am quite disappointed about this Lanvin collection, to be honest. Even though I would agree that he should move forward with his vision, he´s not so good at doing sharp, strict clothes... I agree that most of it looks rather stiff than sharp, and I also dislike the use of fetish-platform shoes and neckties... very blatant and contrived to me... and not very Lanvin at all.

The approach to make menswear staples for women often works nicely (as with full, pleated pants, smoking, outsized men´s shirt etc.), but when it comes to neckties, it easily looks as if a woman fell into her husband´s closet... and dressed up as if she tried too hard to be taken serious in business.

^ I never believed ties had Freudian implications until I tried to wear one myself. Call me old-fashioned, but I say let's leave the ties and the cigars to the boys. :p

Perhaps the Lanvin we know & love will be back before too long ...

Alber Elbaz is a genius. The collection has a very boyish charm, but still very wearble and feminine. And still very parisian. Fabulous, as usual.

I actually met Alber Elbaz, he came to barneys to check out the Lanvin area. I didint know it was him at first, and then i was like hmmm looked up at the wall in the Lanvin area and there was pictures of him on the wall, and was like "oh sh!t"

That's really cool. Did he realize how little things left there? :D

i just said hi shook hands, and then he was just walking around on his own, no one was bothering him. but one dummy int he lanvin area was naked and he got a little bit mad in a very fun and joking manner. and the reason lanvin was so empty caffeine was that, lanvin is really bad at meeting deadlines with shipments. we just got like a majority of the collection today, which was almost all pre ordered from the trunk show.

I see. Actually I think that it is common in most Paris based houses. I ordered something from Chanel and it has not come after a month or two although I was promised that I would receive it in a week. The SA complained that some people didn't even receive the pieces ordered from the trunk show yet.

It hurts the business IMO, because it's almost Nov. and they will mark the price down in like 40 days. The "new" shipments will be marked down immediately. The SA said that they have a lot more holidays and longer weekend in France, so the shipments are normally later than American people expect. Culture difference, I guess.

May I ask what's a trunk show?

I second that, since we don´t seem to have any of these customs over here in Europe... As for the sales in the US, I always found it very ridiculous to see how soon they start over there... people in my place only just started buying winter now, since the weather was just too warm to wear anything, so I guess we won´t start doing mark-downs before christmas, probably even later.

Agree with everything here, except I personally give higher marks to Rochas over lanvin.
