MODEL - and niece of former US President George W Bush - Lauren Bush has become engaged to Ralph Lauren's son David. The couple met at Vogue's Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art six years ago and David proposed this weekend at the same venue.

"David told Lauren that he was taking her to see an exhibit, then got down on one knee," a source told the New York Post. "He had a beautiful ring ready. It was a total surprise to her, and they are both so happy."
David is the executive vice president in charge of worldwide branding, communications and marketing at Polo Ralph Lauren, the world's largest designer brand with more than $10 billion in annual sales. Lauren has helped more than 60 million impoverished children through the sale of her Feed Projects bag collection. The former model, who appeared on the cover of the 2002 Pirelli calendar, also recently launched the Lauren Pierce clothing line.
