I was surprised to read this (but really shouldn't be). She does a great job of hiding it.

I'm not surprised, her voice is kind of smoker-ish.. kind of deep and breaks a bit here and there, what a shame though i've just lost a lot of respect for her!

I think they are confusing Lauren with Lo --the other Lauren. I've seen myspace pics of Lo smoking cigarettes but she definitely hides it on the show and in public pictures. I've seen tons of private myspace pics of Lauren and while she has plenty of drinks I have never seen her with a cigarette. I think Lauren was the only person on Laguna Beach who didn't smoke- Kristin, Stephen, Lo, Jason --pretty much all the other main characters were smokers.

This makes me think of that cute scene on Laguna Beach where Jason offers Lauren a cigarette. Lauren tells Jason she doesn't smoke then tries to confiscate his cigarette to make him stop. They end up wrestling by the pool. It was so cute. Too bad Jason was such a douche.

^ I find it untrue because we have lots of photos of her including personal ones hanging out with her friends and never with a cigarette. She said to Jason on laguna beach that she doesnt smoke because its bad for you.

I've seen a candid of Whitney holding a ciggie (it was posted in her style thread awhile back), but I've yet to see any personal pics of Lauren holding a cigg while out w/her friends even. There are tons of facebook pics of her out there drunk, but no ciggs in sight. I'm pretty sure someone would have snapped a pic of her at a club smoking if it was true b/c they could sell it to the tabs. NY Daily News isn't the most reliable source either.

Also, hasn't she always had that super deep voice, since back in the LB days?

I saw an interview where Lauren said that she suffers from acid reflux and sometimes loses her voice.

I agree - in season 4 there's even an episode with a scene at FIDM where Stephanie is telling Lauren that she's quit smoking, and Lauren is encouraging her.

As for the smoking thing, she admonished Jason for smoking back when they were still on Laguna Beach, so I'm a bit skeptical.

Sorry guys for posting the smoking tidbit. I didn't mean to start anything. I was just really shocked to read that because as an avid watcher of the hills I thought she did not smoke. The article gave the impression that she was more of a social smoker (if that makes any difference).

On topic she looks gorgeous in the above screencap. I may have to tune in next week just to see her .

The EW cover was my fave as well. I loved that entire photoshoot actually. I saw a vid of the photoshoot they did for TV Guide, and wished they used other pics from that photoshoot instead of what the chose to stick with. They had some cute themes, but they stuck w/the football one.

Why is she so on the downlow now? hehehe I miss seeing new candids!!

Yep, I agree. Her voice usually seems really husky after a night out so I'd put it down to alcohol moreso than cigarettes.
