^ Very well written. I totally agree.

Now, it isn't all about the models or the designers but it's also about the peeps behind the scene as well as on the street. That goes to show that fashion is not just centered in one place but it's everywhere. ;D

her an Miroslava have the same problem.
Just because someone wears designer brands doesn't mean the overall looks is nice.
I might be wrong but she really starting being notcied in the fashion world after she married into a very rich and influencial family.

she was actually born into a very rich and influential family:

Lauren is the daughter of Ronald V. Davis, the former CEO of the Perrier Group of America. Raised in Greenwich and educated at the prep school Kent (where, she says, she modeled for Elite on the side), Lauren graduated USC before moving to New York. Following a short-lived stint at the now-defunct firm Network PR, she joined Vogue as a fashion assistant and was later promoted to associate market editor. After three years at the fashion bible, she left to head up PR for furrier J. Mendel, later decamping to a similar position at Carolina Herrera. She departed the fashion house in September 2006. These days she's a Vogue contributing editor, one of Anna Wintour's favorite young socials, and a fixture at events around town.

i remember seeing lots of pics of her when she was lauren davis, constantly in vogue and on style.com, but it was the same stuff she was wears now, like ODLR, proenza (she's been wearing that for a while), nina ricci when olivier was there, and rochas before that...

personally i think her style is very blah...nothing to get excited about...

^I agree that she probably got an equal amount of press as Lauren Davis - style.com has featured pics of her for years. I think it's actually just the emergence of photographer blogs that makes it seem like she's getting so much more press now - that additional media wasn't really prevalent until the last couple of years or so.

also. she got alot of attention because she was/is a muse for olivier theyskens and he custom made her wedding dress.

When I spotted artist’s agent Jen Brill at a mutual friend’s birthday party wearing a capitivating crimson grin, I knew this was the season to try a bold red lipstick—yet again. Jen, after all, is never at the tail end of a trend so I headed out to the stores, shops, and drugstores of the world to find my own signature crimson. In the past, I had given up on discerning the right shade—I most notably tried it out in the late 1980s—because it can be so hard to match with your hair and skin tone. This time, however, I was determined to discover one before I became disheartened and retreated to my classic pinks and neutrals.
The good news is that after about a month of experimenting—good things take time—I finally found a few reds (at varying degrees) that I can rock with the best of them. After I settled upon a perfect shade, however, I had to make appointments with my dentist; my facialist, Carol Burns; and spend a few hours at the David Mallet salon because while choosing the right color is key, having bright, white teeth, freshly scrubbed skin, clean hair, and a healthy dose of self-confidence are essential parts of making this trend actually work. Here is my list:

BEGINNER REDS:
Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipstick in Berry Noir, $29, lancome-usa.com.
Like training wheels, this is a good way to get yourself comfortable with a darker shade of berry without risking too much.

INTERMEDIATE REDS:
Chanel Rouge Coco Lipcolor in Paris, $30, chanel.com (available in March).
So pretty and goes with anything and everything that it’s hard not to love it.

ADVANCED REDS:
Rouge d’Armani #400, $30, giorgioarmanibeauty.com.
An advanced red not for the faint of heart, but once you are ready for it I can assure you that your dreams of a bold lip will be met—and then some. It is a deep, luscious shade with a hint of shine.
M.A.C. Lipstick in Brave Red, $14, maccosmetics.com.
The name says it all!

^She is so correct about having the hair/skin/teeth to go with the shade. Those components are always (to me, at least) the main difference between someone who CAN rock a vibrant lip and someone who can't.

I do think that she has fashion "moments" but that they're not impressive enough to warrant the attention she's getting.

Let's have some real talk here. Yes, she used to be on style.com, but lots of people are on there that don't get six and seven page spreads in magazines. As I understand it there are many fashionable women at Vogue that write articles and contribute and yet I haven't seen their weddings featured in the magazine.

Money makes the world go round and if girlfriend hadn't married a billionaire I doubt she'd have the coverage she's getting now.

Maybe, maybe not. But that is true of many many people in the Star Style and Behind the Lens sections. I see no real point debating why someone is getting coverage - they are, and you either like their style or you don't.

I think the picture of her and Jen is cute. And to be honest - I'm surprised at how good her writing style is. I don't know if it's heavily edited by someone else or not, but it's much better than I thought it would be.

amen to that

Not feeling it either. Plaid purple blazer + mustard shirt + grape purple pants don't work together; although each piece on its own is nice.
