Lee Radziwill

It's a long story but she refused to come to the aid of Truman Capote, the man who was her supposed best friend and who adored her, when he was going through a lawsuit. Liz Smith asked Lee why and Lee said "Who cares? They're both ****." The other person suing Truman was gay as well. Lee's refusal to get involved dealt a death blow to her friendship with Truman and was a mortal wound to him. Google the quote or Liz Smith and Lee Radziwill. It really is a vile story and she is a real witch.

I don't think so.
The real reason Capose was dropped by Lee and every single of his society friend is because he betrayed them all by publishing their intimate secrets and confidences in his book Answered Prayers. He backstabed the very women (his Swans) who made him a society legend and allowed him to extend his fame. The only woman who remained his friend was C.Z. Guest and it was only because she had not trusted him with any of her secrets, so she was not in the book.
Capote was a social-climber a profiteer and a traitor, that's pretty vile in my book. Even if Lee did say that (and I don't believe she did, her lot of her friends were/are gay), she had her reasons to be bitter and I have no compassion for him.

I know that story, too, Harumi, but you have to look up Liz Smith's story. It is pretty compelling. There are other reasons why I think Lee is vile, however.

Love her style, here, pictured with Martha Stewart.

I find it hard to belive she said that :o and like Harumi stated she fell out with Capote because of that book,it really dosent make sense she would say that.I mean she LIVED with Rudolf Nurejev and allowed him to take his male lovers to her house for gods sake.

But do you have the link to the story?I would like to read it, also when she was on Larry King few years ago she tallked about Capote with great affection.

I see that the scans of this interview from August 2003 issue of US Vogue were not posted, and i was so grateful that MMA scanned it, so thought i should post it here where more people can appreciate it.
