Lessons From Lonneke: Manage Your Weight With Veggies!

lonnekeveggies.jpg

The divineLonneke Engel has been a successful model for over a decade, most famously as the face of Ralph Lauren. Now studying to be a certified health counselor, Chic Report asked her to share a new health and beauty tip every week. Enjoy!
When I have a fashion shoot coming up and I want to look lean and thin, I adjust my diet a few days before. I eat foods like salads and raw vegetables that make me feel light. Some vegetables are so low in calories that they make you feel full while you lose weight. Think peppers, cucumber, celery (don’t eat too much!), romaine lettuce, radishes and so many more! The more of these you eat, the less bad stuff you will consume. Vegetable soups are also great options—as long as you don’t add cream, cheese or oil. I firmly believe that vegetables are the key to a healthy weight!

Here they are, chicettes–my top 6 rules to get a model body and great skin.
DRINK WATER! A hydrated body will get rid of the bad stuff and bring all the good stuff to the right places.
EAT A HEALTHY AND BALANCED DIET! The more healthy food goes into your body (and the less bad food), the better your body and skin will look. You are not a garbage bin!
CLEAN YOUR SKIN! In morning and afternoon, do it with good products that really improve the quality of your skin. And wash your hands regularly. You touch your face a lot during the day, which moves backteria onto it.
SLEEP! The more sleep, the better. Even 10-minute power naps work!
RELAX! People who take time to relax and do fun things always look and feel better.
WORK OUT! When you work out, you get your body to look the best it can. And you release toxins and cleanse skin from inside out. Shower straight away after a workout so the dirt doesn’t dry up.

Many people love sushi–I know I do! But have you ever eaten the white, grated stuff they put the sashimi on, sometimes used as decoration on the plate? That’s daikon, a Japanese radish-like root vegetable, similar to a carrot, but white. It is amazing because it tastes great and has almost no calories. Some people even say it facilitates weight loss because it contains enzymes that help digestion. It also contains a good amount of vitamin C. It is great added to a salad–or try it raw! You can serve it with steamed carrots, kale and squash. I always put it on top of my salad. It is crunchy and tastes fresh. So next time you go for sushi, give the daikon a chance!
