Louis Vuitton F/W 12.13 Paris

First of all, woooow. Then, wahooouu. Finally, OMG.

Translation : the set, the collection, the music were perfect. But i have been surprised because it's a radical changement about the previous collection.

Meh.

People need to stop with all this Downton Abbey like inspiration.

God, Paris needs to stop failing.

The bags were fantastic. The spectacle itself was fantastic. The clothes were just O.K., at least far better than what he showed in NY. Certainly no where near the beauty of the S/S collection, but I imagine that these clothes will work much better as separates in print.

I too am exhausted with the Prada comparisons. Marc has always done these retro-modern kind of collections, so what if they are similar? They are not the same.

Is it just me, or can I see a inspiration from that movie Changeling from 2008?
I like it!

please do not quote images
And i like the all collection... it is something that u don't like when u see, but... u will like in the future!!
Good job sir Jacobs!

The two images are so different. Inspiration from the 1920s is fine - cue steam-engine train as props, "Yes, ma'am" porters and obvious class snobbery - but the proportions here are all freakishly wrong. The 1920s silhouette is elegant as it was straighter, boxier, dropped waist, like Angelina Jolie's coat, not this trapezoid high-waist A-shape that throws all proportions off, plus 1950s saucer jewel buttons, overwrought embellishments and 1970s prints and cigarette pants. This is a rather unfortunate mash-up of periods and styles. In an expert designer (eg. Yohji Yamamoto) hands, the results could be interesting, but done without any sensibility like he does here, it just looks wrong, "off" and silly.

Here is what the 1920s were about fashionwise:

Louis Vuitton F/W 12.13 Paris Full show

Dang how many pieces of luggage and handbags does Louis Vuitton sell to stage these kind of shows?!?!

We haven't seen a train of this caliber on a runway since Dior Fall '98 couture! That truly is the best part!

I really like the texture and fabric on some of these pieces hopefully they are used in other cuts not just the same A-Line coat/dress we see here.

I spotted some great coats amidst the madness, but other than that, it was a giant train wreck. And yes, that pun is very much intended.

Well, I like the concept of the bellboy on the runway, lol.

I remember Miuccia said backstage at Prada, that she didn't want to mention about what the idea was for that collection. and now Marc did this thing. I can't help thinking maybe they've already done this arrangement for lots of seasons, selling the same elements. but it's just for the first time Miuccia can't find the words to advertise those clothes. it just happened that Marc find a better way to tell the story.

Couldn't agree more with you guys. The setting was a blow! The entrance of the train, unexpected and a fantastic way to gain some attention but the clothing itself was rather disappointing, nothing impressed me and whole atmosphere was more or less plain.

OMG! How I love the 1920s inspiration

...and the beginning of the show
