Louis Vuitton Handbag Questions (December 2003 - November 2010)

I don't know, I can't warm up to the Dentelle... same goes for the Rivetting, cause to me, having ANYTHING done on the standard monogram canvas, is just *Ugh*... (exceptions are being made when it's cute sakuras, but that's just me)

Esp. Riveting looks Frankenstein-ish. The full leather ones are nice on the other hand (what is it with the accessoire designers at Vuitton who try to do any kind of bag in monogram canvas???)

I've just seen the price for the plastic shopping bag from this season (you know, the huge, red & blue & white one?).... and I had to laugh uncontrolably!

They charge 1,900 Euros!!! For a plastic bag!!! Which can be bought on any chinese market for a lousy Euro! (even then it's still overcharged!)

It's a plastic shopping bag! Like the one homeless carry all their belongings in! PLASTIC! FOR 1,900 EUROS! NO EXOTIC LEATHER TRIM! PLASTIC for CRYING OUT LOUD! 1,900 Euros!!!

My Sacoche GM out of Kanga leather and costs less!

Vuitton is overcharging on plastic, fo rizzle y'all!

This is the one I'm talking about (from style.com)

its called the Street Shopper and its actually braided leather just like Bottega Veneta. except the strips on this bag are narrower ;)

Hm...? Me neither, lol. It doesn't look too bad, though it's strange, I can't seem to find anything about Damier Vernis on the french website. Neither was there a press release, or did I miss something?

Damier Vernis is from the F/W 2000 collection. its already discontinued for a while now.

the 30 is the most popular, but it is still best to try all the sizes and see how it relates to you (ie: height, needs, girth...) but do keep in mind that the Speedy sags and will not keep it's shape when it has stuff inside. i know people either use a magazine or cut out hard cardboard and cover it with fabric to use as a base for it. but some like the sag too.

and yes, all LV bags are assembled by hand.

i would put my vote in for the speedy 30....the 35 is entering luggage travel sizes. and yes, if you simply get a nice piece of cardboard, like the kind on the back of notebooks and round the corners, your speedy will never sag! works wonders!!!

if you come to europe it will be slightly cheaper, but generally LV Suhali is expensive, especially when LV is raising prices 2 times a year

does anone know the cost to replace straps? and trimmings? i just got a vintage saumur, and the condition is not as nice as i was expecting...the exterior trimming around the flaps needs to be replaced along with the shoulder strap.

it might be more expensive (together with the buying price of the vintage one) than getting a new one. LV repairs are usually slow and expensive, for an exact price you need to go to a store or call them

thanks for the reply....im thinking of maybe repairing it myself. the shoulder strap has slight cracking....i mean it's not bad, but it wasn't really disclosed in the auction either. i managed to get 20% back....so maybe i'll either fix it myself or refurbish to the best of my abilities, then sell and buy one in better conditon....

LV will not repair anything that has been handled by other people than LVs official repair staff! Please keep that in mind, you might end up having a defected bag that might never be repaired by them again (it's simply one of their policies to send back anything that has been repaired by someone else)

i guess i'll have to take pics and see what you ladies and gents think. the condition isn't horrible, but it's not perfect. i had to buy off ebay because $900+ is a bit much for my student budget right now and also because i prefer a bit of a patina....

but now im pondering if i should resell it and spend a bit more for one in better condition or send this in the get repaired.

you are obviously unhappy with it, so I'd sell it. regardless of what we say to the condition it will always bug you, I think
