I really hope the campaign is only by Testuya Nomura and there won't be other shots with real models or celebs by Weber or Teller because it would completely ruin what could be one of the most best fashion campaign done in a very long time.
Some people will probably find it pretentious or gimmicky but I absolutely love it. I love that they deciced to follow the anime inspiration of the show with a video game aesthetic for the campaign. Also I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan so maybe I'm biased but I think it's amazing that they decided to collaborate with Tesuya Nomura. The result is really cool and extremely refreshing.
So many brand are trying to emulate Slimane's Saint Laurent aesthetic right now. They think it will make them cool and relevant and thus attract younger costumers. Yet it actually makes them look pathetic but also makes the whole fashion world even duller that it is lately. Maybe Nicolas is also trying to attract new clients with this campaign but I love how innovative it is even if it's not groundbreaking it actually feels very new and unexpected. And god knows we're seriously lacking of great novelty & unexpectedness in fashion nowadays.
He's bringing LV outside of the limits of fashion, just like Marc Jacobs did when he started collaborating with artists. Now every designer has done the "art collaboration" thing but here Ghesquière pushes the boundaries even further. Even if his collections aren't as stellar as his work at Balenciaga, this campaign shows that he is and will always be one of the greatest visionnaires, and leading forces, of this industry.
