MacBook

Scott if you buy a macbook or macbook pro or even air for that matter you will not need the wireless card to access your wireless network. Macs have them built in and apple call it 'airport'. So if you look at the specs on there website you should notice airport mentioned somewhere thats the wireless network card. Hope this helps.

okay. so all i do is put in my network info on the hub or does apple have its own network? that's really the aspect that confused me most.

^ ? Apple doesn't have its own network. You should be apple to open the new Macbook and it should automatically detect whatever wireless network is in the vicinity. You just choose your network and it should be connected. If you have a secure network with a password, you will be prompted to type in the password and that's it.

And the MBA does come in a model with a hard drive (although its not that much space and defeats the "coolness" and purpose of a MBA). There is an external drive for it too, so its not really wireless just that the MBA with solid state drive has no moving parts and its very thin.

My adapter/battery is acting funny on my MBP, sigh. I had a brown out in the neighborhood because of the high winds and ever since the battery has been slowly draining and failing to charge, even though the battery is 99% charged and connected to AC. I think I will have to let a Genius tinker with it.

Amazing to find a macbook-thread in the accessories-section :p
I don't remember what got me to switch to mac but I never regreted it. I used to have an aliminium powerbook but I'm now sitting on a MacBook. I think maybe I'd do better with a MBP since I'm running some heavy programs, but I'm too comfortable now with my 13-inch screen, for me 15 is too large. But yeah, as a photographer-slash-designer I cannot live without my mac. We run PCs at school and I can't stand it anymore, it's a pain :p

Oh man, my mom just bought a pc laptop and i was installing everything for her and i nearly threw up at how confusing and challenging it is to use a P.C.

its like all those popups are in code and you are supposed to decipher it..wtf hahaha

anyways.

love my macbook.

a warning to everyone though: macbook airs are b.s.

My skinned macbook :D

i've been wondering about skins lately.. do they look tacky in real life? and if not, where are some good sites to find some good ones?

I used a vinyl sticker but instead of sticking it to the Macbook itself I bought a transparent clear case like this and then directly applied the sticker to the clear case. That way, there's no direct contact with the laptop, no sticky residue and you can change the skin according to your moods. :D

Hey u guys.Ive been thinking about getting a Mac....and have a few questions. How long does it usually last charges? and How much is the student discount?:flower::heart:

I just got an email about that ^.

[FONT=PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif]Get a free iPod touch when you buy a Mac for college when you buy a qualifying Mac.

Buy a Mac before Sept. 15 and get a free Ipod Touch 8g or a free Ipod Nano your choice. (Uh, I would definitely choose the Touch, that's like a no brainer).

Macbooks are save $100, MBA are save $230 and MBPs are save $200. iMac is save $140.

You can see all the prices for education discounts if you go to the Apple Store website, and click on "Education Store" on the lefthand side.

My MBP lasts for about 8-10 hours after a full charge with average use (surfing the web, checking email, word programs, itunes, etc).

WOW! 8-10 hours is amazing! Is that continous use? My MB usually lasts about... 4 hours maybe, my fiancé's macbook pro lasts about 6 with moderate use, but even 4 is really good for a laptop. Most PC laptops usually lasts 1 to 2

so go buy yourself a mac :flower:

Sorry guys! No no, not with continuous use. Sorry to get your hopes up! Its like 5 hours? I think.

I never run any intensive applications and I end up closing it and leaving unplugged and I use the power saver options all the time and turn the brightness on the screen way down.

So real time is like 5-6 hours.

And the bigger the screen the less battery life. I think the 17 inch has the least battery life of the MBPs.

I got confused with my iPod Touch! Haha, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a battery that lasted that long though?

My old Thinkpad used to do like 2 or 3 hours. 4 years later I hadn't got a new battery and it was doing 15 minutes, lol.

^ Same. It used to last more when I first got it, I think. And I do the same with brightness and amount of programs open.

^It's brand new. I have noticed it not lasting as long as time goes on, but not anything major. It all depends on what I do with it how I use it that day.
