Male Model Height Requirement

What's the average age a male model beings his career? It sounds like many girls start when they're 16/17.

Most agency boards that I've worked as a stylist with in Toronto have a good number of men who are 5'11 and a few who are 5'10. After compulsively browsing through international boards in the last two years though, I've found that pretty consistent with all the boards, give or take. Even Storm, an agency that's come up a few times in this thread has a guy that I know of who is 5;9, his names Bill, and *hugz* to him, he's not a new face! I'm by no means saying that it's super duper common, but alot of really successeful guys are shorter than six feet. I think that just makes them sooo much cooler.

This forum is awsome by the way, I'm soooo glad I found it.

Oh, and men are usually taken on to the fashion boards at age 16-23, men develop at more sporadic and later ages than women do, but they tend to work for a longer amount of years as well. It's sad though, men don't really reach super model status, at least not really in the way that women do.

Thanks for the information, Tristan. :flower:

It's true what you say, I don't think breaking into the industry at a smaller height is impossible, providing you have other outstanding qualities.

:buzz: i know bill!!! he tried to make me grab a bottle of vodka at the storm party cause he couldnt reach  im not even kidding
yes he is TINY.......smaller than 5'9 IMO actually......i would say more like 5'7 or 8 :ninja:

but seriously......some male models are ABSOLUTELY CLUEEEEEEELESS!!!!
i met this guy called Luca from italy who said he was 6' and he was more like 5'10 at the VERY MOST

some friends of mine who do the dior homme show say there are boys there no bigger than 5'9

you know when you meet a guy who's height is as it says on their card cause you are suprised how tall they are.
ie: Fernando brand is a TALL guy......he is 6'1 and there is absolutely no doubting it

but people like boyd who say they are 6'1 also.......please.....more like 5'11 or 6'

Hey bud, don't be hat'n on the 5'11 boys!! In n.y. girls are *the* worst with that! Devong Aoki is tiny too, she's listed as like 5'8 somewhere, and she's really like 5'3!! Yeah seeing tall guys is kind of weird, but alot of the really tall guys carry themselves oafishly.

just by looking at pics, i dont think trace riff at svm is 6"1 or 6" like it says on motw

I'm not big on Trace Riff. I like totally exotic or Euro trash models, all american has gotten sorta boring, gimme a Brittish boy any day. Hey the winner of that trashy show Manhunt is 5'11. What the hell does Carmen Elektra have to do with the Male Models??? At least Tyra's an actual high fashion model, but her show's still kinda trashy too, oh and Eva the winner is only 5'7.

5'10 is the least for request models of nyc request models is a top male agency but 6'0 will be the perfect height

yeah, normally when measuring for your c.c. etc. they're really loose with the measuring tape. odds are if you're really 5'11 they'll put you at 6' without batting a lash. what they hear is all that really matters. anything under 5'11 though most likely wouldn't work out...

Many people have told me I would be a great model. I definitely I know I have the looks going for me, but my only concern is my height. At age 16, is 5'7 enough to get me started into modeling? If not, has anyone tried natural ways to grow taller that show effective results?

Thx in advance.

B

BTW How much extra do you grow after you turn 16?

is that Mallory from The Real World

I've been wondering about modelling for a while now, I'm 6'2", but I've never really been sure if I've got the right look.

This isn't a great pic, I just took it, but what do you think? I've been told I could be a model, but just by friends.

Paul, are you really skinny? If so, I could picture you on the Dior Homme runway.

Paul, by the looks of it, you are thin, which is good. It is hard to tell with just a face picture but from this one, I would say that you can have a shot at runway. More so than editorials and advertisements. Thin models are progressively emerging as the new ''thing''. Pursue it paul, if you really enjoy fashion.

Well I'm about 32" waist and 40" chest, so pretty thin, but not massively so. Maybe I'll get some slightly better photos sometime, but it is definitely something that I'd love to do.

I dont understand why a guy would have to be so tall if they were only doing print adds
