This campaign is turning out to be so fabulous. I am loving the new direction with David Sims.

It's atmospheric and it has attitude, there's not really much to dislike here if you can get over the fact that Miley Cyrus is leading this. Looks really good so far!

The dusky beach setting is fantastic indeed. The lighting even makes the clothes look interesting.

Is Natalie Westling lying down in every shot lol

Nice change for a Marc Jacobs campaign!

Miley actually looks good in it! And I love how Sims captured this dark/sad mood.

So beautiful. The first Marc Jacobs campaign that I actually like

Every Marc Jacobs campaign till this one has been shot by JT. :flower:

Really? Then this is a major change… a big risk, but so far the results show that it was indeed time for a new art direction. Actually, now that you tell me he had never changed Teller through all of these years, I'd say it was necessary.

You know...the change to David Sims is really, really smart.

It makes sense to me, too. As Marc exits LV, he no longer has the brand as an outlet to express that side of him that loves the extreme luxury and decadence of fashion. To me, Juergen's work (although I do like it) makes fashion look gritty and quirky. With a new photographer at the house, it seems like a nice inbetween of the glamour of LV and the anti-glamour of Juergen.

Plus, I always felt like Marc's shows have so much drama, so much cinema and so much moodiness - and often times Juergen didn't capture that for me. Sims has perfectly translated the drama of the show in this campaign, without being too literal, either.

Really fantastic. Can't wait to see more.

Gorgeous, these images are so ****ing perfect. Who cares if it's miley (ok the pout is slightly annoying), I'm starting to like a lot this campaign. The general atmosphere and the calmness of the portraits sooth me. Kudos for everyone behind it

Not surd if it was mentioned but Katie Grand was the stylist behind these.

The last paragraph.. :meow:
MARC AND MILEY: For the spring advertising campaign, Marc Jacobs chose a special friend of his and Robert Duffy’s — Miley Cyrus. David Sims photographed the most talked-about celebrity phenomenon in Los Angeles alongside models Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds on a beach set by Stefan Beckman.

That Jacobs would choose Cyrus is altogether not surprising. She has been a big supporter of his, having recently taken her clothes off for the “Protect the Skin You’re In” T-shirt campaign and presented the designer and his business partner with the top award at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars in October.

“Robert became friends with Miley a few years ago, and I know her through him,” Jacobs told WWD. “I met her years ago at Robert’s birthday party in Savannah and we became friendly.”

The campaign is not a literal translation of the designer’s spring runway production, though. “We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark.”

Cyrus, he explained, fit the campaign’s vibe. “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything,” he said. “There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.”

Not everyone in Jacobs’ camp seems to share his opinion, though. Jacobs usually works on collection campaigns with Juergen Teller, but this season’s choice of Sims, who shot the recent beauty campaign, had a simple explanation. “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist,” Jacobs said. “He just didn’t want to shoot her.”

I think Marc should stick with David Sims for at least a few seasons. Juergen Teller is amazing but I love the new direction!

Wow I did not expect that Juergen Teller does not want to work with Miley. I thought they would be a perfect fit but it seems even he does have 'standards'.

That's what I thought as well. He always seemed to me like a guy who's willing to do a lot of crap work for good cash.

Anyway, Miley doesn't impress me here but Sim's photography and the whole atmosphere of the set is wonderful.

Great campaign. One of the only Marc Jacobs campaign I've liked in a long time.

Hopefully Marc sticks with Sims from now on.
