Marc Jacobs S/S 2016 by David Sims

I prefer the second image, more dinamic. The thing that bothers me though is the fuzzy quality of the photography...

The Sandra shot looks great. Not great as Sandra herself looks great-- but the composition, energy and strong individuality comes through.

So much better than the Lana one.

Sandra is such a legend, so good to see her!
Can't wait to see who is next!

I had to google both of them. :o
The result is hideous anyway

LOL

Sandra is definitely an acquired taste!

Lana and Bette drag this campaign down for me. The collection was supreme-- one of his best. And here with these two-- it's just them looking like their usual selves (even having their typical hairstyles).

I get that they're trying to be real and not high fashion by just capturing these women in a candid fashion. But it just doesn't work at all for me.

Who's next, Madonna (can you imagine, alongside Sandra Bernard, lol), Lady Gaga, an undead Julie Garland? The lineup seems like it was compiled by a Carnegie Hall crazed, middle-aged gay man. It's too much Marc, and too little about the brand, I'm sorry.

^ Well in all fairness Marc IS the brand and the brand IS Marc. And the collection itself did have a distinct whiff of a Carnegie Hall crazed middle-aged gay man -- chorus girl meets meets Auntie Mame in a Busby Berkley production styled by Norma Desmond with Mama Rose secretly resenting the whole thing from the sidelines. If that doesn't demand an equally campy, old school American song-and-dance kind of campaign then what does??

Personally I love it. I love how, for the second season in a row, he's letting true personalities shine through. Nearly died from the excitement of seeing THe Divine Miss M in the campaign. That's beyond.

^^^ That’s a fair assessment, Spike.

I can appreciate his choice of personalities over the typical beauties to lead his brand. But like Benn, I also find the typical list of gay icons just as conforming as the traditional models. Except for Madonna, I’ve never been attracted to any of the typical gay deities like Cher, Bette, Judy, Joan, musicals…

I still like Sandra’s best, if only because she looks like a tribute to that Mike Myers’s character on SNL’s Coffee Talk. Down to the eyeglasses. At least Sandra’s hamming it up— or is she…????

Trust be told I didn't bother to even look at his collection. I suppose all these camp icons makes sense then. Still, it's all a bit over the top, which is of course, very American. We shall see how receptive this campaign/collection will be to real women, the ones who will have to wear the clothes.

This is wonderful. And you have to love that he brought in fantastic theater ladies for a collection that was so broadway

Yes this is great to see these icon on campaign. Im so tired seeing Meisel muse on every campaign this season.
