Marc Jacobs Stam Bag (September 2005 - March 2010)

general question. my stam is lined in a ivory-ish canvas and the label is leather. my friends on the other hand, is lined in a red suede-like material and the label is a metal plate. her stam isn't as big as mine and she told me that it's a smaller model. the gold hardware on the bag also looks brassy compared to mine.

I ask this because I think she bought a fake bag and doesn't realize it. she told me that they marked it down because the kiss-lock doesn't close properly.

help would be appreciated...

you have a later season of the stam bag. the burgundy suede lining and antiqued brass hardware is the first season 2005 stam. it's also the most faked hardware/lining combo. does your friends bag have handles? could be that it is a baby stam, like what i just purchased. she's welcome to post pics here and i can authenticate it for her if she'd like. (also, the kisslock issue was a problem with the first batch of bags)

Have they discontinued the little Stam? (Not the Kid - but the little Stam without the handles.) Or has it just sold out everywhere? I really wanted a black one for evenings and stuff... sigh.

im not sure, you can go to marcjacobs.com and see the different seasons of bags. i know they started making it in the patchwork leather, but im not sure if they're still making it because they just came out with 'the kid'. i bought mine on ebay, because i wanted the first seasons leather...dont care much for seasons after that, but i know if was still produced throughout 2006 in black nappa leather, with a twill lining...

they pop up on ebay every once and again.

I remember there was concern about the elastic stretching out but I dont think the string is elastic even. If it is it's very very tight.

ah, the icey leather looks so yummy and the leather of your taupe looks so smooth and slouchy. i wish i could have gotten an '05 stam because it was clearly the best season leather-wise.

And your taupe still looks so perfect! My poor putty, as much as i love it, just shows every stain and scratch and it's almost impossible to remove.

i have worn it to thanksgiving dinners, dressed up and dressed down. i'll take pics this week i promise. i find it really suited to my wardrobe because it's so variable in the way you can wear it

To the rest of the Stam lovers - Does anyone have the exclusive stam in patent dove from NAP? I'm considering buying it but I'm not sure how accurate the color is online. My computer screen shows it to be a smooth pale cool gray. Can anyone confirm?

Since I've been pining away for a cola stam, I thought perhaps the dove stam could be a good substitute instead. My only concern is that it is a light-colored patent leather and I'm afraid that it would show wear-n-tear very easily. I also think that I'm just wanting to get the dove in order to compensate for the fact that I don't have a cola stam. Ugggghhhh...I know I'm being stupid...forgive me for I am only thinking aloud. Sometimes I get so obsessed that I can't think clearly. Any insight/advice would be greatly appreciated!

hmmm..i thought someone posted pics pages and pages back somewhere in this thread....i wonder if any of the ladies over on PF have it...it's a really lovely color, but definately not a cola. the cola color wouldn't get dirty near as easily and would probably be more durable...have you considered saddle??

thanks for your help. her bag does have the handles so i know it's not the baby stam and she just bought this bag this past summer, so i'm not sure...i'll def. get her to post some pictures up here for you guys to judge
