hmmm..i thought someone posted pics pages and pages back somewhere in this thread....i wonder if any of the ladies over on PF have it...it's a really lovely color, but definately not a cola. the cola color wouldn't get dirty near as easily and would probably be more durable...have you considered saddle??

yeah i found pictures of the dove stam...i'm wondering how accurate they are to real life though...hmmm.....

And I've seen the saddle color in real life, but it's got too much red undertones for me. Thanks for the suggestion though...alas I guess my search continues...

Tie i'd continue the search for a Cola or a Cola substitute personally (gosh that bag was gorgeous!!). I have the putty and mine looks so old and picks up every stain and scratch when i compare it to the pics of Jun's taupe. I love the colour, but i'd avoid a lighter stam if you can (particularly since it's an everyday bag you want to dress down with jeans, etc). I'd imagine a patent version would be even worse for colour transfer, as you can't even dryclean patent!
If you have your heart set on it though, don't let me turn you off! Just my thoughts

thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Boots...you've echoed my feelings precisely and I guess I just had to hear it from someone else. I think I was trying to convince myself that I loved the dove stam as much as the cola stam. But I was just fooling myself and you've helped me save my money for something I genuinely love (hopefully a cola stam someday). Thank you for the fantastic advice!

You do have a stam already don't you?
If i ever see the Cola i'll definitely let you know, i know how long you've wanted it. I remember first thinking how amazing that colour was when i saw it on one of the models at Fashion week a couple of years ago. Just gorgeous

Hmm the colour transferring for the pale coloured patents just scared me off! I wasn't in the market for a new handbag but looking at the Netaporter sale I was sorely tempted by the Dove grey patent Stam.

I have a dove grey patent MJ bag - don't know the style name, has a rouched strap and a chain strap - rouched pockets in the front - it's from S/S 07. Anyway - I carried it all last spring and summer - no color transfer whatsoever and I mostly wear dark denim. I think the finish on patent resists color transfer - the problem with light patent is when it comes into contact with dark colored patent (like if you were storing them next to each other) - there is some kind of magnetic affect. I was also carrying a lambskin ivory Botkier last summer and the color transfer problem was horrible.

Anyone else had the oxidation problem with the Stam chain strap?

The chain messed up my white clothes. I've read about this problem before. If you wipe it with a white napkin or something, you might notice that there's some black stuff coming off it.

I've been polishing it with a cloth lately but it keeps coming back. Should I use some jewelry polisher?

I cannot understand why this oxidation appears. I store it in a dry walk in closet and don't take it out too often if it's moist/wet outside.

it's just the nature of the brass....a jewler's cloth works though...yopu have to make sure you get inbetween the chain links though, as that's where the tarnish collects. i dont think it's a real big issue...

anyone seen any bright blue (not sure what the exact colour name is...) little stams around? i really want one. i have a black quilted stam now but sometimes its a little too big/heavy for daytime errands/shopping trips etc. plus i LOVE that electric blue!!! diabro had them a while back but they're gone now...i guess ebay is my best bet?

oh and any news on the fake-stam front? i think the fakes are getting better now...i poked around a bit on ebay the other day and i saw some really cheaply-priced ones ("NWT"!!) with black string (and not the obvious-fake white strings) and they generally look pretty real....SCARY
