MGC at Fendi is a fine choice. As others have said, she’d be much more at ease in Roma than in Paris and the design ethos of Fendi is different to what Dior is/was, especially coming immediately from Valentino. Both are couture houses whereas Fendi is not. Plus she was originally an accessories designer and that is Fendi’s bread and butter.

I’m honestly not mad. And all I got mad about her at Dior was the constant repetition and her defiance against the Dior codes at the behest of her own agenda. She made it more about her than the house itself. Made it more sociopolitical than it needed to be as the “first female designer at Dior”. Her going to Fendi doesn’t have that kind of weight.

The Fendi clientele I know will be receptive to whatever MGC is cooking up. I feel like if anything we’ll still be missing the “fun” and “fur” parts but she’s a solid accessory designer.

My question is who will handle menswear? I’m really hoping it’s a left field choice like Lucas Ossendrijver or someone that they could experiment with.

Do we think still that she was actually humiliated by Dior or her leaving Dior for Fendi was all part of the plan? I don’t see how LVMH would fire her from one brand just to hire her to another.

Because they have little consideration for Fendi ? A second-tier brand in their portfolio and now that Dior, their crown jewel, is having a revamp, they place MGC to catch customers who would not buy into this Dior revamp anymore ?

I’m genuinely pleased with this direction. Fendi needs her to fix a boutique line that’s felt stagnant for over a decade. Their entire entry-level offering is overdue for a complete revamp.

To their credit, they’ve continued producing highly desirable upmarket leather bags and consistently strong fur. I’m eager to see how she reimagines the Haute Fourrure.
