Just a little tidbit I read from Carmen Kass' interview - every model loves the Marni show because they give you free clothes :flower:

and here i thought that was why they liked any brand...

I love Marni! Most of my wardrobe is Marni ^_^ I love the first pic in Runner's second post btw.... that outfit is so gorgeous! :flower:

really?!?! ...i never would have guessed that based on your posts in what are you wearing...

i thought your style was more girly sexy...versace, cavalli, moschino...jimmy choo, manolo...
doesn't strike me as a marni girl...

interesting... :brows:

how do you find the fit?... :flower:

I have just had another look at this whole collection on catwalking. I have decided (although subject always to seeing it live in the shop) that I don't think I like any of it. In particular the colours don't appeal to me - too wishy washy - but I also don't like the skirt shapes. I am disappointed in it esp. compared to the delights she produced last summer.

Lena - were you in the shop in paris? Funny - I liked the shapes but I really wasn't keen on the colours - I am a muted colour kind of girl so i was scared off by all the greens & yellows!!! LOL.;) And browns look BAD on me.... so all in all I was disappointed. Boo hoo. I thought the sales assistants looked fabby in their outfits though - they were wearing very cool stretchy cummerbund type thingies. Lovely! I love the shop & how the clothes just look like they are haning off branches of a tree....

thanks for this runner.

i can understand the colour issue :D
but i found the collection real fresh
was a bit dissapointed by the necklaces..
shame actually cause thats all that i was ready to afford :)

yes c'est tres cher! so why didn't you like the necklaces - I thought they were just a little too handcrafty looking (as well as expensive)....

when you see the collection in the shop it does look really fresh. although I love them, the shpaes are really quite difficult to wear. I tried on a puffy grey skirt & it was so high waisted that I just felt awkward. The volume trend does have a tendancy to drown you, I find. I dunno maybe I just haven't got the hang of putting it together correctly.

i'm finding the menswear this summer to be weaker than last years apart from some of the prints which are more wearable than ones at missoni. any opinions?

helena, i didnt like the fact that their 'back side' would just look unfinished and thrown together ...it needed some 'polishing' to contrast the handcraft and somehow bring it up but in a non-messy way, so i saved myself some money ^_^

I like the "spirit" of the Marni menswear, but I just don't find it wearable. The shapes are quite unflattering (boxy tops, narrow bottoms) and colours are difficult. Very feminine actually - a lot of the pieces are just "men versions" of the womenswear, where, it seems to me, the real designing is done. It's much better than Missoni though!

i agree with the previous poster that the menswear is a variation on womenswear. on two occassions i've found myself wearing shirts that a friend has as a dress. they should produce seperate distinct prints for men- then parhaps it will seem less feminine.

i saw the collection in 2 places...at the marni boutique in soho...and then t bergorf goodman uptown...

it is amazing how merchandising makes a difference...it looked like two different collections...!!..:o

in the marni store it looked much more edgy and tricky to wear...as you and helena both describe it...
but at bergdorf....it was so pretty and fresh and wearable...(lots of blues...not much yellow)
they did a very good job buying this season at bergdorf...made it all seem much more desirable... :D :flower: ..quite remarkable really...imo...

sounds much more accessible at bergdorf softgrey - I barely saw any blues in Paris (either at Printemps or the marni shop). did you see the big stretchy cummerbunds that I was talking about - did you like? so will you be partaking in any marni?

didn't see them in the store..no...
i have a thing like that by romeo gigli from the early 90's...
i think i may break it out...it's a taupe colour...i think you'd approve helena...

so far...my fave pieces are the 'burlap' ones...and i got that great vintage vest...so i won't be getting any marni burlap...and i have a bunch of stuff from last season that i haven't even worn...shoes still in the box...and some skirts that i am working on customising...and that bag i forgot i even have...

so i don't plan on getting anymore marni just now...or anything else for that matter...
i need to re-assess my wardrobe first...i'm neglecting too many pieces...:(
plus i have all these wood beads that i want to make something out of...some sort of necklace..or a handle for a bag...something...:ermm:

If you didn't see the prints on dresses, would they still seem feminine to you on your shirts?

I really like most of this collection (talking about womenswear). While a few looks are put together too clashingly, each separate piece looks like it has potential. I'm digging the details that some have perhaps incorrectly referred to as "Prada-esque".

The menswear pictures Runner posted look alright to me, but not great. Those sandals are awful; they kill that outfit.
