Marni S/S 09 Milan

OMG! although some looks are just hideous (especially those involving electric yellow, EWWW) there are still tons left to go crazy about, its so diverse!! like your aunt's dressing room, wow!! i cant wait to see the textiles in bigger pictures, but im loving it already

in general, i think this collection is pretty girly and very artsy.

but it looks messy, something so not marni's aesthetics.

and she likes to get inspirations from prada/miu miu hurh?

woah! Prada much? and the last outfit on Suvi looks like Jonathan Saunders gone wrong. i like certain pieces on their own tho.

Quirky Marni? .. Wow, never seen this before......

Some pieces look a bit too "Marc by Marc Jacob"-ish, which is not a good thing. Though the more neutral colored and toned down classic Marni pieces are very good, as usual.

despite the fact that this is basically a combination of 75 seasons of Prada (hasn't Marni always been Prada-lite though?) I like it. Maybe I like it because its a more accessible version of Prada designs I didn't like.

IDK, I like it.

I really like the accessories, I think it's one of the things Marni does best. This is nice though! I loved it.

prada+kane+mj... but an amazing result! and also 100% marni!!
i am in love with the jewels, the use of colour (which i find daring even if it's just because they dont do monochrome head to toe just like everybody else)
weird styling for the runway, but cant wait to see it in stores

 its almost like a ready-to-wear collection from ikea

maybe i was a bit too much rash in my judgement earlier, after seeing the looks separately i find most the collection really quite unflattering and cheap-looking, which is pity because the graphics is so lovely. some pieces are sewn up together carelessly (seemingly unintentionally), like off the pattern, and i dont like that.

This is definitely the last three seasons of Prada + last season's Miu Miu + some Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton's sheer/deconstructed collection thrown in.

It's interesting to see designers think of other ways to ape Miuccia's lace peek-a-boo effect. Huge pailettes don't work as well as fringe did, and this collection is a bit ostentatious for Marni. But some of it works well. The clashing patterns are grotesque, though (not because they clash, but because the prints are disgraceful).

Maybe I am a little overwhelmed by the styling, but who could wear these individual pieces convincively? I really don't see it happening...

These shapes are probably way more wearable than the sack dresses and oversized duster coats they've been pushing for a while.

This collection is in fact extremely ugly but that's the point, no? Marni made a name as the artsy bohemian label, this is just return after all the modern couture stuff. They should hire Paulo back, pronto.

Marni specializes in ugly charm, the same way that Prada is perennially dowdy yet inventive, and Luella hawks sickened, storybook fetishes.

am i the only one who finds 95% of this to be appalling?

i can't seem to grasp whether it's the stylings or what. but, aside from a select few pieces i say 'thanks, but no thanks'

Concur.

Some of the pieces are nice, but not many.
What are with the hideous looks?
Everyone is going to just adore this seeing as everyone adored Marc Jacobs.
At Marc Jacobs, they were hideous pieces thrown together into hideous looks, whereas here it's mostly just hideous looks. Some of the pieces alone might work.
Majorly clashing patterns. To the max.

Wow, this is a lot of ideas for one collection.

Still, I think it works. And, it's definitely a shake up for Marni.

I do think the styling's off though.

one of my favorites thus far!
love everything from the garments to the accessories, etc.

I agree on every point; especially, the styling 'issue'.

Very fun collection! Every piece brings something new to the table. I like it.
