I've merged all the topics to do with Mary-Kate and her current problems :flower:

I feel sorry for those who resort to drugs and stuff when they have a life where they never seem to get any breaks and never seems like they can get a chance. Like a really dysfuntional family or abuse or something like that.
Not 2 rich girls who have been babied all their lives for doing absoultely nothin expect self produce movies they are in and in a billion "mary-kate and ashley sleepovers part 4" movies they've made themselves. They had it easy.

I never understood why some people make problems for themselves. I honestly thinks Mary Kate is one of those types. I mean I know she has issues but she seriously has the money to go to a theripst etc. Seriously. If shes tired of "hollywood" they need to stop comin out with those teenybopper movies and live out of the "hollywood spotlight".
it's not so easy to just step away from the limelight...many celebs sign lucrative contracts with big companies that depend on them staying the limelight...they get their money but their chained to these large corporations that gave it to them...i would suspect that's what's going on here. most celebs aren't as "free" as you would think.

with that said, i still think this is just fluff and pr and spin...now she's going to come out from rehab...have a barbara walters' special about the dangers of drugs and make five more movies...blah

Yes but even with that said, they said they own their own company or something. They make the rules. They hire people as well. The director from "new york minute" said they were grilling her and stuff and they are very demanding and bossy and later decided to hire her.

maybe they feel they dont have a normal life..... but seriously, we all have issues

I think it's a misconception that their whole lives have been easy - they're both smart girls and they were, I'm sure, well qualified to get into NYU, which isn't the easiest to get into - they're both "normal" girls, in essence - they get an allowance of something like $200 a month, plus a credit card, which is the same that I get, but with the added pressures of keeping on a company which carries YOUR name with requires YOU to remain in the spotlight so future consumers can be appealed to is difficult. They had been sort of fading away a bit for several years before they came back just lately since they had the huge spotlight following the announcement of New York Minute, their first "in-theatre" film for a long time. I'm not saying to cut them any slack, they seem more "normal" than a lot of celebrities, but I'm saying that it's not right to say that they've had it easy. They juggle a lot more than the average human, if you think about it - a company, acting, still going to school AND the pressures of getting into college...most people just go to school and hold a normal job.

I just think that if she has a problem, whatever it is, people should leave her alone and to stop saying that they've had it "easy" so she can't claim she's had pressure. I don't think it's been easy - they've had pressure just like everyone else, if not more. I just hope she gets better soon, and I think the tabloids should back off for a little while and leave her alone until she's better...

they did have it easy.
You can't deny that.... no one can deny that.
They've been babied their entire life.
I even read somewhere they were gettin like 100,000 dollars a episode on full house by the time they were like 5.
If thats not easy, I don't know what is.

They EARNED that much money, but they were brought up as normal kids. They were young and didn't have access to that money, so I wouldn't call that as being "easy". I think it's only really lately that they could really access the money that they made. They've just had nurturing parents that've kept them grounded. I wouldn't say "rich" individuals have it easy in life and that this means that they don't have problems - everyone's human. Being in the spotlight doesn't help, with public scrutiny.

I just don't think that we should say that she shouldn't have this problem because she's rich, because I don't believe being rich is indicative of anything.

yes its REAL hard to play one character on a t.v show and have a twin playing it as well.
Lets not forget how hard it is for them when people make videos for them to star in, no audition, no anything, just because they didnt cry on set when they were babies. Thats VERY hard.

You know how many people actually work for what they have?

ALso it doesn't matter if they access to it or not. It was THERE in their name in their account and ready for them by the time they turn 18.

yes I can see anorexia as a condition no matter what backgroud but drugs? I mean people usually resort to drugs when their life is so terrible and its hard for them to face it.

I guess her life was too terrible, her parents are supportive like u said and they have money.... wow her life is so terrible she needs to turn to drugs. Thats why I said shes creating the problem for herself.

Money doesn't get rid of problems. It often creates greater problems. I'm not trying to make everyone feel sorry for them. I'm just tired of people thinking that those with money or fame aren't allowed to go through rough times. They are human; they feel, they react. Everything come with a consequence. Yes, they have fame and fortune. But with that comes very high expectations and a lot of pressure. They get little privacy. When I was 13 I was afraid of what the kids at school would think of me. They have the entire world trying to judge them; and we're doing it now.

trust me I know money doesn't take away problems and I could be wrong on this but I do think some people create problems for themselves and I do think shes one of those types...

actually money takes away a lot of problems.... not all but a lot.

The only thing that I've ever seen the Olsens in was Full House, but I was closer to DJ's age- not Michelle Tanner's  I did see them on Oprah yesterday (I am vactioning somewhere with a TV :P ) and they seemed like pretty decent teenage girls- smarter and more articulate then I would have thought they would be. I have seen pictures of them over the years, but this is the first time I'd ever heard them speak.

One thing that DID make me laugh out loud was when Oprah asked their dad what their "allowance" was and after a pause he said 150-200 bucks a month! They gave each other a sly/embarrassed look that the camera just barely caught. 200 bucks a month wouldn't keep these 2 in lip gloss- seriously. I am sure they spend more on lunches and hair accessories then I, as a 20-something NY'er, spends on rent and expenses in a month. They are absolutely loaded and I hope they do well with the rest of their lives and take advantage of what they have instead of becoming a caricature of the young, wealthy teen star.

As for the reasons she was admitted into rehab? I really don't care. I love movies/photography/music, but I don't care about celebrities. Tabloids are only going to cover things that they know people want to know about. There are lots of comments on this thread about tabloids being so bad/mean, only to be followed up by comments speculating about the circumstances of her rehab. Don't blame the tabloids, blame the people who succumb to celebrity obsessing.

Quality rehabs deal with people and their addictions-period. Alcohol, drugs, eating, sex, even internet addictions!! Many are very spiritual places, where someone goes to re-evaluate their life and starts to deal with the root of their problems. I wish them luck and hope things go well for them in NY, which is a pretty celeb friendly city. Most Ny'ers won't even look at celebs twice if they recognize them B) too cool.

I agree, plasticine.

We shouldn't speculate whether or not she's using drugs - Drama, I think you're jumping to conclusions when it comes to whether she uses drugs or not. No one confirmed it, and assuming that she doesn't isn't necessarily right...it's all hearsay, unless you've heard it or seen it in person yourself.

I know a lot of so-called "rich" people, but they all each have their individual problems, which can sometimes be exacerbated by money. Have you ever seen Traffic? It can be like that - "rich" people who use drugs and drink - it's not uncommon, so you can't say that being "rich" immediately makes all problems go away.

In regards to the money issue - if you can't access it, I don't see how they've had an "easy" life. It's as if they didn't have the money at all.

I hear that about NY. :)

Well, they did say that they get a $200 allowance from their parents, and then they have a credit card as an extra. But I know quite a few people with that, so they're not so different at all! :: laughs ::

They both do seem like very articulate young women, and they seem very sweet and down-to-earth...I just hope MK gets better, no matter what it is...

Actually you're wrong, their allowance is right, its about $200. Remember they're celebrities, they get everything free despite how much they actually have.

exactly.

I dont get it....I get free stuff sent from designers yet I can afford it...yet poor people cannot afford it and they're not sent anything. Its crazy! I suppose power would come into that but anyone see what I'm on about? lol
