^silkscreen would be good if you want to "plan" the splatters

also you can try monoprinting
(which is you paint on glass or transparent film and then put the fabric on top and press lightly with a roller of some kind)

i used a paint that works on dark fabrics

Can I paint with gouache on fabric?

sure

though gouache is just like thick watercolours
they will wash out

there isnt any polymer in gouache that would make the image washable- you could add a polymer to gouache though and then let it dry & heat set it and it would work...

I'm not painting on a t shirt though, I'm painting over a design that was already painted onto one of my shoes. Does that make any difference?
