Metrosexuals

strawberry daiquiri, I wasn't singling you out and i know you dont have that veiw, it is just this whole issue of Metrosexuality. Surely a fashionably young man as you put it is more desirable to the opposite sex than an unfashionably young man. And I don't think that only gay men take care in their appearences. Some people should just appreciate that, by dressing with flair and a sense of style, a man demonstrates self pride. Surely thats what a real man would do. Having self pride is a macho thing after all.

I feel that we only harm ourselves by labelling people
I totally agree, that was the point I was trying to make in my first post. Yes art, aren't their a lot of males 'creating this art form', Tom Ford for instance.

 Well.... macho or feminine. A pride of lions is what you are facing, especially when we begin to blur the gender lines on what is and isnt acceptable procedure. Unreasonable and all as i think it to be, for men in this day and age to have to justify their right to personal up-keep, us women have had to struggle against the sexist prejudices since the dawn of time. So, unfortunate as it is for those of you affected, keep in mind as you ponder the human nature of brutality, the hurdles capable women face when venturing into male dominated fields :P

Bravo

I agree. Just as men who are concerned about their appearance are thought of as vain, weak or sissy, women who aren't interested in clothing, etc. are thought of as effeminate, ugly or just plain strange. Ahh, the joys of stereotypes...

Yes, and to touch on an entirely different issue, if you are an out and proud lesbian, you are assumed to have relinquished with your surrendering of men, all taste or appreciation for fashion and its entire family tree. If we all represented a word, how unfortunate would it be to represent the 'stereotype' and all her calculated lies.

True. Its not just men who suffer this sort of stereotypical 'abuse', this whole metrosexual thing is similar to the tomboy thing. why do people class others? Why do poeple class themselves? Human nature?

Psychologist. Jeez.
Sorry, I didnt mean to come across like that. My dad's a shrink. Coincidence? maybe!

Hey, there's a difference between psychobabble and psychology...i.e. psychology works...

:innocent: Nothing negative about a couple of rhetorical questions, once us mere mortals aren't required to answer. There are few things in this world i love more than a spell of psychobabble (chocolate, men, my bed), so continue by all means....

Ingrained tribal tendencies? It would also help to explain racism, sexism and some other lovely human traits...

That was the point that I was trying to make , PURPLELUCREZIA :flower:

Why stereotype others when it leads to so much unhappiness ? But as has been said here , when commercial interests come into play , anything goes , to protect the vested interests of profit , imho .

You think!

My family has a combined total of five degrees in psychology so I would, wouldn't I...
As do I, otherwise I'm wasting lots of precious money majoring in it in university.

That stupid term drives me absolutely crazy.

I think I wrote You think, and I was right, you do think. Just think about it!

I read 'so' into it...weeks of reading some people's posts make a man begin to read things into words...

all these guys getting themself into shape and grooming and dressing 'better' kinda annoys me.......because........i dont want people to look better than me

i kinda have the feeling that im at the top of the hill......and they are gradually climbing up......so i either need to climb higher.......or kick them back down

the only problem is........you can only look SO good......before you start to look rediculous.....this is a big problem with people in general......its way too easy to go over the line

for example........with clothing....overdoing a label for example......or overdoing trying to look like barbie (donatella).....getting too much surgery (m jackson) or too big boobs (jordan)

i think its very important to know who you are and constantly analyse youself to make sure you dont become a characature of yourself
