Why did they get rid of the other guy… He was doing fine?
If all the stars align, there's an angle for Rider's Celine that "legitimizes" a wide variety of styles for him to explore from the get-go. Between his Philo credentials, the fact that Philo is designing under her own name now so he needs to distinguish himself from her, Hedi being a sort of secondary founder via the menswear which will make it feel less pathetic when Rider references his immediate predecessor's codes... there's a way for Rider to establish himself as the proverbial secret third thing.Old Celine and then there's the now Celine with all the codes embeded by Hedi.
all makes sense and is the right way forward but won't happen , we will get mashed potatoes....If all the stars align, there's an angle for Rider's Celine that "legitimizes" a wide variety of styles for him to explore from the get-go. Its not like Celine was in the brink of extinction before Hedi. He did however flourish it.I will be checking his debut collection but I'm not that cheerful. Hedi's hard work to keep Celine alive seems to be doomed. At least Vacarello had YSL's large legacy to recreate archive pieces to save the day but this new guy only got... the new monogram ? or the CC branded products ? good luck working with that...
Céline is so bourgeois that without an edge the brand will be boring very quick though. Phoebe gave an edge, Hedi too, with his sharp tailoring or his rock inspo sometimes.Céline has an identity. It’s bourgeois dressing. No matter how you interpret it. Phoebe was bourgeois as much as Hedi was.
As long as Rider don’t try to recreate the awful TikTok era of Hedi.
Of course it wasn’t. As it was extensively discussed both Phoebe and Hedi contributed to launch Celine to a whole new level but on the other hand it’s worth remembering how even the most acclaimed designers crashed when they took over big legacy housesIt’s not like Celine was in the brink of extinction before Hedi. I mean, he designed the SS2025 collections that have to hit the stores. Hedi photographed the visuals so they will use it until the end of his tenure. They deleted all of Hedi’s photos on Instagram and now they’re literally putting them back up with credit to him.
Hedi designed and shot the campaign for both menswear and womenswear SS2025.Does this mean FW25 mens is designed by the studio? Or does it mean The Brought Young was designed by the studio and filmed by Hedi...?
I do expect a lot. If he is unsure in his abilities I would like for him to be copy cat of Hedi like AV in Saint Laurent. Bcs I do like and buy most of Celine Menswear. So if I get a teddy bear or some another animal on sweatshirt or jumper I will be very pissed. Don’t want to see childish stuff on my clothes. I L OV E D everything Hedi was doing. Literally have stuff from clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. Let’s wait and see! That's what I thought/hoped. So "new mens collection" as in the one that's currently being worked on, not the one that was just released.
I don't envy Rider. He's managed to inherit even more baggage than other Hedi successors. Hopefully he gets a chance to settle in and establish him as a CD.
be ready to shop somewhere else :-)I do expect a lot. If he is unsure in his abilities I would like for him to be copy cat of Hedi like AV in Saint Laurent.
