Mineral Makeup

I agree with pavement, I'd love to be able to wear liquid but my
skin being as sensitive as it is, mineral is the only thing I can get
away with in the long run.
I've actually seen improvment in my skin since using mineral make
up and that alone is a big encouragement to keep using it.
Plus I'm more into the "as natural as possible" look, which is easy
to achieve with minerals :-)

I bought BE foundation last month an I am totally head over hees about it- I agree about the shimmering effect but since it is very powdery and matte, i do not mind too much.
I will probably try the mineral foundation you are all talking about just to compare it to BE - and i have also noticeda great improvement in my skin

I started using mineral makeup some weeks ago, and I really cannot believe how great it looks. I think it would be difficult for me to go back to liquids, because it really feels like you have nothing on your face.

I haven´t had a lot of pimps lately, so I didn´t need heavy coverage. Let´s hope the foundation works as well when I have some acne.

I also bought some shiney mineral thing in Sephora that I put as I would put concealer, in the inner corner of the eye, and it´s MAGIC.
It lightens instead of covering the undereye darkness.

I´m deligthed.

I bought a lot of mineral supplies while I was in USA, some JANE (cheap and good foundation), some Neutrogena (foundation) and the shiney pinky stuff from I.d. from Sephora.

I´m having nightmares just thinking I´ll run our of this mineral foundations some day.

¿Does Sephora ship to southamerica?

yes like pavement said a quick spritz w/water / vitamin spray will make it look a 10001 times better!

I'm so excited to have found this thread! :woot:

I'm planning on trying out mineral makeup soon, so all the recommendations and reviews here are really helping me narrow down which brand I should try first.

One brand I haven't seen mentioned on this thread so far is Urban Decay's Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup. I've heard a lot of good things about it...has anyone here tried it? :flower:

I've tried the Urban Decay one, i really like it although i also really like the Jane one which was about a quarter of the price and i can't see any major difference between the two on my skin (not sure how the ingreadients differ between the two)
I also have tried every day minerals which i wanted to try so much since you can't get UD or Jane here but i didn't have any success with it, the finish seemed drying on my combo skin but still wore off really quickly on my t-zone (not sure if the finishing powder would have made a difference)

Do any of you use liquid foundation under your mineral foundation? I have the Youngblood mineral foundation, but wanted more coverage, so I just use my normal non oily foundation first which gives a beautiful skin, but after some hours my skin is shiny. Any suggestions?

what are mineral make up?I'm clueless

It's all-natural, non-comedogenic make up. It's suitable for those with sensitive skin and eyes, the acne-prone, or just plain purists.

Can someone recommend me which mineral make up to use if I have dry
skin and don't want it to look ashy and too matte?

I don't know if you've tried Everyday Minerals, but their Original Glo formula is the opposite of chalky. Though it really does glow, so you may want to mix it with something else. Otherwise, their Intensive formula gives me a more natural look. Maybe if you put it over moisturizer it would be even more suitable for dy skin.

I only use Herbal Basics, the lady who makes it has a store on ebay. Its the best Mineral Makeup (for me). It has more coverage than other's that ive tried but it goes on more smooth.

BE caused me to break out horribly and also caused my cheeks to get more red, for a week the redness didnt go down. I hated it so much.

Golden_Butterfly - I dont know if you exfoliate or not. But exfoliating can really help with applying make up. I have really sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts and I exfoliate my face once a week (friday nights) and when I wake up its taken off the dry rough skin and my makeup doesnt look ashy / chalky anymore. Goes on very smooth! Just a suggestion :flower:

I must share that I was a massive fan of BE for months. I decided to try some free samples though from the Everyday Minerals site, and I am not IN LOVE with makeup even more than BE. Last night, I went for drinks with a friend, and in the middle of a conversation, she interrupted me and said, "I am so sorry. I cannot pay attention to a word you're saying because I have been staring at your skin all night. It's perfect! What do you do to it?" A few days earlier (the first day I used EM, actually), a co-worker complimented me on my skin as well. I am definitely ordering the regular sizes now!

Sometimes when I use to break out badly and I was still using BE, I used Loreal's foundation (the one thats 50% water?) under it, very lightly. I let it dry and then apply over it. :flower:

Also Mineral Veil is great for using under your mineral makeup before hand, I put a lot on my face (its a transparent powder) and then apply my mineral make up and then put another layer on, it helps keep the oil down.

try using a primer on bareface before applying any foundation.
i use meow cosmetics' primer powder and it really helps keep the oilyness at bay.
