Miu Miu F/W 09.10 Paris

All right, after a while I think I really, really like it! In fact I think it's very Miu Miu from the times when it showed in Milan, plus the embroided pieces are to die for  Not to mention the amazing soundtrack, which made me love the clothes even more

^^Yes, it's a wonderful show and the soundtrack adds a lot. The music certainly sounds very bourgeoisie, which really enhances Miuccia's idea of a new look for the materialistic middle class.

I'm beginning to love this here. I can not believe this took me a time to digest, since I always love Miu Miu at once, unlike Prada, peeling the collection until reaching the core and really like it. Loving the asimetrical print dresses, specially Hanne's dress. The only thing I hugely hate is the amount of oil on every model! Distracting...

^ That's actually body glitter/shimmer. I agree, it doesn't always work, though I did love the way it looks with the beige/taupe/mauve pieces that opened the show.

I keep coming back to this collection because it really did impress me. I honestly think that moving the Miu Miu collection to Paris was the smartest thing Miuccia ever could have done for the label. It used to just be Prada's little sister who mimicked a lot of what the Prada woman did with slightly more naive, kooky results. Now I feel like the Miu Miu girl/woman actually has a personality all her own. I feel like she's almost a more exaggeratedly feminine and sexy woman than the Prada woman is, more brash, still kooky of course, but in a sophisticated way. There's less subversion to her, her strangeness is more straightforward.

And this collection....I never thought I'd see the day where Miuccia would do something so traditionally and overtly sexual. It's kind of refreshing mixed in with the more expected quirky bourgeoise elements.

Agree. In fact Miu Miu was always more Parisian for me ^_^

^^I agree with both of you that Miu Miu no longer feels like Prada's younger sister. She has an identity all of her own. In fact, I rarely compare the two because I consider them two separate entities...more like distant cousins than sisters, I would say...vaguely related, yet entirely individual.

i'm also loving this collection more and more everytime i see it. those opening coat dresses are just chic and gorgeous. oh and don't get me started on the closing skirt + cardigan + bra looks....stunning. only thing i still can't love are the fur shoes. those are hideous but the boots though are fab.

^something slightly perverse about it all,no?

Yes, I've been thinking the same and that's one of the reasons why do I love it so much! Only Miuccia can do this kind of subtle perversion without being vulgar or obvious.

Thanks so much for posting that video, mackos! The clothes are just so painfully sensual and erotic. I'm still beyond obsessed with those opening three or four coats...they're incredible.

It only makes me sad that we won't get a full video as nice as that FTV one from miumiu.com...I hate it how both Prada and Miu Miu put such silly runway videos on their site.

Ah, don't even tell me  S/S 09 was one of the most expected videos for me and it turned out to be the biggest letdown of the season, I had a pretty a bad feeling it's not going to change this time. We at least have the full Prada vids from TV Moda, but they don't cover Miu Miu shows

The official video is just scandalously short. I really don't think it would cost them that much to do a descent version with all the looks.

All right, it's been two two years since the show took place and I'm still literally obsessed with this.

F/W 09 was such a stellar season from Miuccia, both in Milan and Paris, and I just adore the transition between those two. While Prada was strong, tough and reached almost a hardcore point with the gladiator dresses and fighting arena-inspired runway, Miu Miu was so much softer, relaxed and elegant. While I still see some points they have in common, think those thick fabrics, rich prints and embellishments, it's done in two different, yet amazing way. It even shows in the presentation - Prada's deranged models with the deathly stare and Miu's bourgeoisie girls walking softly through the luxurious rooms of the Avenue Foch mansion.

Also, the collection itself, along with F/W 07, became my favourite Miu Miu collection ever. It's such a brilliant example of Miuccia's skills to reveal just a little bit and cause such enormous dose of eroticism. Let's take the opening coat-dresses, slightly unbuttoned in the front, but revealing nude back or a fur stole put on a nude bra as a substitute for a top - how genius is that? Let alone the closing head-to-toe bejewelled looks, I'm just speechless looking at them after all this months. Adding a marvellous soundtrack with the quotes from Madame Claude enhancing the mood, it's all just unbelievably seducing.

Just a few thoughts of mine, I felt like posting it
