Miu Miu F/W 2016.17 Paris

OK, you don't have to live for these girls, stand on the line of rite-aid long enough (meaning always... ) and it's a slow journey of tabloids on your face with the botoxed faces of that Baldwin girl and that Emily girl who would also have to swallow the camera to show us something we haven't seen. This girl though, is some sort of neighbor, so in addition to seeing her in the media, I find her even when I go get my tacos () and she's ALWAYS pouting and with 90% of boobs on display. Ignorance is bliss, I keep thinking more and more about it lately, there are just so many things and people I just wish I knew nothing about...
Now, I'd love to stick to my instincts but I just looked at the details and oh my... ... hands down prettiest pair of heels [I never wear] of the season:

I'm a sucker for that kind of shoes, always cool to see details cause I miss them during opeing 30 thumbnails (thinking about the details @ Celine)
love the velvet (?) jacket as well, a lot
The bags I have seen to many like them already but there cool

Fashion is dead. And this gives me life.
First of all, as a show, it's fabulous. The casting is all kinds of genius.

I feel like Gucci is the new Celine.
Everybody is influenced by the eclecticism of the new Gucci.
Being all over the place is right for now, And Miuccia did it best.
So So much better than Prada.

This whole season was a dud.

Terrible pandering with the casting.

The shoes were good but they too looked like an awful gimmicks

Some of you sound like: Oh no! Katie Grand has ruined the sanctity of Miu Miu! She defiled our crops and sent the plague upon our houses! How could dear old granny Miuccia let this happen?!

I personally think the cast is fantastic! Yes, Katie Grand brought a lot of her overused IT girls to the show, but at least the cast is exciting unlike oh-so-edgy Balenciaga. As for Miuccia - she's a smart businesswoman and she realizes that Instagram is in right now and so are these girls, which will guarantee expansive exposure.

Oh, and Miu Miu has definitely always been more commercial than Prada. I mean, they had Lindsay Lohan, Mia Wasikowska, Kirsten Dunst and Chloe Sevigny in the campaigns.

I do like most of the jackets, otherwise not my favorite of the season, not my favorite of Miu Miu but far from bad, overall.

And big thanks to Maud and Mullet for the "Tacos and Monsters" stories, had a real good laugh with that!

I don't think the casting was bad at all with the likes of Marga Esquivel (better than ever, these days), Julia Banas (good surprise), Dilia Martins, Alicia Burke and Anna Cleveland (über alles). Sara Dijkink, Vittoria and Yasmin were nice additions too. As for the monsters and tacos-girls, I can easily live with the Hadids instead of the Pavlovas or Adriana instead of Adrienne.
Neither I see some more random cast than anywhere else nor I consider any of the models or not-so-models as able to ruin this collection or spoil the garments.

It's not that, Russian elf, it's just that she's really not very good at all any more. She's the Grandma not Miuccia Prada.... We all like to see Miuccia's strong statements with both Prada and Miu Miu each and every season.... Some of us even obsess on where her risque / rip it up statement will be coming.... Milan with Prada or Paris with Miu Miu?

Maybe this show is Mrs Prada's definitive subversive statement! She's saying - want to know what it will be like going from Obama to Trump? Here's from Rizzo to Katie & The Clan.....

Eeeek

but they've been getting "exposure" for a couple of years now, and miuccia never caved in. she did her own thing, setting the trend. but now she's just like everyone else. it makes me sad.

Maybe you're right. But, apart from the few ones that I don't really have to name, the casting was quite interesting and different when compared to many others this season.

Agree.
And sincerely , i don't like this collection. Few pieces maybe to wear daily? Too many denim pieces, the last part-the last 7 Looks where brocade coats and brocade pieces- are not bad, the rest is to see and to forget....
And talking about Miuccia Prada, her Prada f/w 16 is also not in my favorites , for example the bags on necklaces were horrible.

why were they walking so weird?! Even by Lara Stone standards, that was bad. I feel the same way, the clothes are all over the place, but I still find it more cohesive than Prada's exercise in passing off accessories for a fashion show. I think the long skirts are beautiful even if it looks like someone took down the drapes and went to town on their sewing machine. While there were some truly heinous parts, I find myself liking the collection.

just a wild guess but maybe those long, narrow, heavy skirts...:wink:

She had LiLo in the campaign when everyone in fashion was head over heels about her, just like with these girls right now. Miu Miu seemed always the commercial version Prada to me - more soft and more safe.

Plus, didn't Miuccia struggle with decreasing sales a while back? Or was it only the Prada line?

Hmmm…this is really not good.

It's reeks of Katie Grand and ultimately ends up looking like a Marc Jacobs show - and I love Marc Jacobs, but it feels very off to have Miu Miu look so much like Marc.

Plus the quirkiness here is so heavy and so intentional that it's hard to warm up to.

Hard to focus on the clothes when the people modeling are the bottom of the barrel "it" girls from LA. I always saw Miuccia's work as more on the empowering side, reading her interviews and what she's done for herself, it seems she disapproves being lazy and living off men's cartoonesque boxes for women. Her casting here says otherwise, maybe she's too busy or too old to care who does what, but to me it's completely contradictory of what she's always done. And yes, she's used celebrities before, but usually women with some craft (that's not just injected lips).

Contradictory as this...

...the casting here is pretty standard, all "real beautiful models"...

I always crop off the faces while scrolling down though so I don't pay that much attention to that...

Posted on the Balenciaga thread...

This show actually makes me wonder how relevant and contemporary Marc Jacobs could be if he would stop working with Katie Grand.

^ hi!

fotoholic, bit of a trolling/daily mail touch in that ":blink:" and maybe I shouldn't even reply but: nothing contradictory, just make sure you read the rest of the thread and not just my posts to get the context too, I mean, not to nitpick your homework but you could've just quoted the last post in which, without context, the two lines contradict each other too, and taken it from there..
