Most Overpriced Designer?

It might just be me but I think almost every major designer overprices their dresses as soon as it reaches evening length. Once a dress touches the floor, no matter what its made out of, the prices seem to become astronomical. I was looking through the recent AUS Vogue and a Gucci dress made out of plain cotton, with minimal (maybe 4 hours work worth of) sequins, was priced at AUS$23,500.

Now I appreciate good quality and I do buy pieces from them, but cotton? Silk I could understand

Yup typical designers. I'm not critisizing them because obviously they need the high prices to maintain the labels' popularity.

Yup, i agree. Givenchy's monogram was never actually that popular. It was really only known amongst people who knew a thing or two about fashion, definately not as recognizable as the Louis Vuitton monogram which nowadays can even be spotted by homeless people.

Yeah, I totally agree. If people buy a Givenchy, a Gucci or a Chanel they want to show that to the others and boast with it.

That's ridiculous.

I buy designer because of the quality that I typically find with it. Not only the quality, I find customer service, and clothing that's 10x more comfortable (not always, but usually).

I have a Louis Vuitton agenda. I didn't buy it to boast. I actually find the monogram aesthetically pleasing. I love the brown color, durability and classic elegance of it. It's very simple.

I would buy more things with the monogram on it but it leaves a bad impression on people.

Well... the one that jumps to mind that I've seen most recently is "Great China Wall" some of their pieces seem to be bedazzled flannel shirts for $800.00...

The above is a perfect example of runaway prices attached to a product that doesn't even get close to reaching that much of an aesthetic beauty or unique material. The design is too busy.

Regardless. It is absolutely disgusting.

I understand $12,000 - $24,000 for a crocodile-skin-lifetime-warranty-quality-handbag, but the t-shirt? God help us.

Even though it's not that expensive, i have to say Maharishi. I mean, who would pay like 200 dollars for a tanktop in an ugly, yellow-ish colourtone with a huge, tacky dragon on it?

I think the appeal of designerwear is the price itself. Sometimes they look good; sometimes they don't.

But most of the regular-priced stuff are great as well.
