While I'm not a fan of the mint colors I have to say that there many pieces I really like. But it's really hit-and-miss (eg. the fur pieces are rather questionable). I have to say that Sebastian Peigne does a far better job than Romain Kremer. It just seems more thought-out.
Buuuut the styling is awful (again). Nicola is a good stylist but he should stick to Vogue Hommes Japan.
hmmm...
i'm disappointed...
not because i expected to like it and don't really...
but because i was at least expecting some fun and funny stripper clothes....
but this is just boring...
it's not even bad enough to be entertaining...
it's just flat... ...
hmmm...from one extreme to the other...
come on boys...pick a point of view already ...
Yes! I was searching for that perfectly precise description that nails this hot mess that is the new Mugler, and you've worded it just so right softgrey: "fun and funny stripper clothes". Perfect.
This new pre-collection just looks sloppy: I can see some Thierry Mugler references, but they're so superficial and fleeting, and the results look amateurish and ill-fitting; as if designed by someone with little knowledge of fabric. It's all so first-year-design-school-student, isn't it?
Not as bad as one would expect but yeah it is flat and the pieces look very generic like they could be from any house, a Thierry Mugler piece could be spotted as such a mile away, I really can't say the same for this.
This has been a rather strong Resort season. The vast majority of brands putting out true resort collections and the quality of them has shifted the meaning of this once niche season. Unfortunately, the problems that plague Mugler go deeper than this sad offering. They don't know what to do with themselves. They don't understand who or what Mugler was and they don't understand the potential nor the limits of their own talent, the result is a big mess. At the end of the day Mugler was about making wearable, meaningful clothes. I'd like to see the creative team take that spirit as a base, and then build the theatrics around it. They need to dismiss whatever contrived idea of "avant-garde" fashion that they have, they must also dismiss whatever over the top idea of Thierry that they have. Once they're more honest with themselves, then we'll see something worthwhile. But i'm not going to hold my breath.
