I agree 100%. It seems like Pilati's vision gets crushed under the heavy YSL heritage...
He needs a vision and perhaps some courage to bring something new to YSL. But look what they have done to Tom when he tried to do exactly that, just 5 years ago. Such a bitter pill to swallow.
so true. fortunately, he has a chance now -- with the death of ysl -- to depart a little from looks so closely derivative from the man himself. in those first few collections, pilati almost became more ysl than ysl himself (much like raf at jil sander).
tom ford did not work out at ysl because yves (the man) did not like him. ysl and pierre berge both gave pilati their blessing early on so he really has freedom to run with it anyway he chooses. much like ghesquiere, it seems that pilati's devotion to the house really outweighs any personal ambitions he may have at having his own label. he should trust himself and that reverance, get inspired, and run with it.
