Naomi Campbell Arrested! *Update* 200 hours of community service

^^Exactly.........YSL who cares??????? Just chuck her in the slammer, she's needs to learn.:ninja:

I think these charges are just bull****, yeah she spat at them when they forced her off the plane. She started yelling at BA staff when she paid at least $8,000 for her tickets, and when having a drink she was told they lost her luggage even before the plane took off!!! She's got a bad temper and shouldn't have done what she did, but BA isn't exactly innocent either. Why didn't the police ask BA to find her luggage so she'll stop screaming? BA is complaining that she's yelling at us because we messed up and you (the police) have to arrest her, and Naomi spat, aren't they even?

Yeah, good point YSL did know that she was like that. But the assault happend after the campaign was shot, when they got her to do the campaign she had "changed" due to her court case with the mobile phone.

Yeah BA are totally at fault......but 100's of other people lost their luggage but she has to be the one to kick off. I'm sorry if you start screaming you ain't gonna get you're luggage any quicker either. Also spitting is disgusting and in you're post you're kinda advocating it. So if someone makes a mistake you spit at them and then it's all fine and dandy and we're all even........don't think that's gonna solve anything.

Naomi shouldn't spit it is disgusting, but when your hands are cuffed behind your back I could imagine it was a reflex action. I just think BA should be fined for all missing luggages and flights, heads need to roll. I wonder what would I do if I paid first class, kicked back with a drink, flying to work for at a job, then told your luggage containing clothes you'll use to make money is lost. Much less missing a funeral, considering tens of thousands of suitcases were already loss, is anyone surprised that someone was going to blow?

It is no surprise someone was going to blow, but it had to be her. Look BA are notorious for their incomptency and I've experienced it first hand.......and I wasn't happy about the situation and I made that quite clear at the time but in no way did I start screaming or even consider spitting at anyone. Yes I agree too that everyone should be compensated (Naomi included), but her behaviour on numerous occasions has been disgraceful and I believe this time she really has overstepped the mark and should get what's coming to her at last.
She acts like a spoilt delusional child and expects to get away with it but hopefully not this time.

You're very level headed & it was a thought-provoking debate.

i know i'm late but..

my,my,my. How it pains me to read this thread and see just how judgmental people are and always will be :innocent: I would honestly like to know when was the last time YOU had a bitchfit? Did anyone exploit your unfavorable behavoir? Umm..i'm quite sure no one did. Imagine how hard it would be if there was always someone lurking or waiting for you to screw up just so they could publicize the story :innocent: I don't knock Naomi for what she did & quite franky..i STILL don't even think the cell phone incident was even that big of a deal -_- I personally think that if it excites you this much about her getting into trouble once more and how/if she will be punished again, that says something about the person you and your character..

^^ Mchunu<3:D I just don't like to see pampered people believing they are above the law and exploiting their position. I'm not prone to having bitchfits so I can't comment there. I suppose if you isolate each of her misdemeanours they don't seem like much, but there have been too many now and if you act that way, you then face the consequences.
I also don't get excited about reading about any of this and if I never heard anything more about Naomi other than her doing her day job I'd be chuffed to bits.
How anyone's character can be called into question for not condoning someone's bad behaviour, is to be honest a bit baffling.:ermm:

and I have to say I agree with you :brows: some reactions among the thread shows far more than the story in itself...

i think any of us would be furious if we were told that our luggage was lost, i still dont understand why people manage to **** up very simple tasks all the time
MORONS!

Naomi should be given an American Vogue cover shot by Irving Penn before he dies.

Naomi Campbell gets 200 hours for 'air rage'

By GREGORY KATZ – 2 hours ago
Associated Press

LONDON (AP) — Temperamental model Naomi Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours of community service Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers after an "air rage" incident at Heathrow Airport.
She was also ordered to pay 200 pounds ($400) to each of the police officers she attacked and 150 pounds ($300) to Miles Sutherland, the captain of the British Airways plane she disrupted, in addition to a 2,300 pound ($4,600) fine.

She could have received six months' jail time and a heavy fine for the six offenses stemming from a violent spat in April with British Airways cabin crew and police who removed her from a flight in handcuffs while waiting on the tarmac at Heathrow.

Prosecutors said Campbell used foul language, kicked and spat at police, accused airline personnel of racism and threatened to sue them after she was told that one of her bags had not been placed on the flight to Los Angeles in April.

Campbell was traveling in first class and became abusive to the captain after he left the cockpit to personally explain to her why her bag — and those of many other travelers — had not been placed on the flight.
Prosecutors said she shouted a number of obscenities and tried to kick the police who were summoned to remove her after she "ordered" Sutherland to delay takeoff and look for her missing piece of luggage.

At one point, the black model accused the airline staff of being racist and said they would not have removed her from the flight if she was white. She told a white policewoman that the only reason she was being arrested was because she was "black and famous" and threatened to sue.

Magistrate Peter Yiacoumi told Campbell that she was getting credit for past good behavior and for pleading guilty at the first hearing, but said the crimes could not go unpunished. Prosecutors said she kicked and spat at police officers, used foul language repeatedly, and had to be removed from the plane.

"These offenses are aggravated because they were committed within a lengthy incident in a confined space on an aircraft," he said. "Whilst we accept that the loss of your suitcase would have been stressful, your subsequent behavior cannot be justified."After the sentencing, Campbell's spokesman, Alan Edwards, said the catwalk star was "very, very relieved" the incident was over. He said she felt she had been treated fairly and predicted she would work hard during her community service.

The incident happened shortly after the opening of Heathrow's new Terminal 5 building, which did not function properly at first, resulting in many cancellations and lost bags.Campbell's lawyer said she was upset because the missing bag contained an outfit that she was contractually obligated to wear at an event in Los Angeles.

Campbell, 38, arrived in court Friday morning in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and was immediately swarmed by paparazzi. She did not make a statement to the court beyond confirming her name and her address, and her lawyer entered a guilty plea. Her spokesman, Alan Edwards, said outside the court that Campbell regretted the incident and looked forward to telling her side of the story. In the past, Campbell has been charged with throwing objects at members of her staff.

Last year, she was sentenced to a week of community service spent mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms in New York City after admitting "reckless assault" for throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper.
Earlier, she had agreed to take an "anger management" course after a similar attack on an employee in Canada. That employee claimed Campbell threw a mobile phone at her and threatened to throw her out of a moving car.Other staff members have also brought charges and lawsuits against Campbell, one of the most highly paid models in the world.

the details of her behaviour are awful...i hope she gets help

from bbc
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been sentenced to 200 hours' community service after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers.

Campbell, 38, admitted kicking and spitting at the officers on board a plane at Heathrow Airport on 3 April.

Magistrates in Uxbridge also ordered her to pay £200 compensation to each of the officers and £150 to the plane's captain, Miles Sutherland.

Her publicist said she would "handle whatever she's asked to do". Alan Edwards said: "One thing I would say about her, she's incredibly hard working and she's not scared of hard work. "She is very, very relieved it is over and she has been treated fairly. The whole thing is regrettable, she knows that."

Campbell must complete her community service within 12 months. She must also pay fines totalling £2,300 following the incident, which saw her removed from a BA flight bound for Los Angeles from Heathrow's Terminal 5.

Peter Yiacoumi
Chairman of the magistrates

Chairman of the magistrates' Peter Yiacoumi said he had given Campbell credit for her guilty pleas and previous good character. But Mr Yiacoumi said: "These offences are aggravated because they were committed within a lengthy incident in a confined space on an aircraft. "Whilst we accept that the loss of your suitcase would have been stressful your subsequent behaviour cannot be justified."

Media scrum
Campbell admitted three counts of assaulting a constable and one count of disorderly conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of using threatening, abusive words or behaviour to cabin crew. The charge of assaulting a constable carried a maximum six-month prison sentence and a fine of up to £5,000.

Earlier, wearing a dark suit and sunglasses, she faced a media scrum as she arrived in a Mercedes for her court hearing. In court, the prosecution said problems started on the aircraft when the model was told an item that belonged to her was among luggage which had gone missing.
Melanie Parrish, prosecuting, told the court Campbell was travelling first class and was initially very friendly.

Naomi Campbell admitted in court to a total of six charges

The aircraft's captain had been told that not all the luggage had been put on the plane because of teething problems at the new terminal. Miss Parrish said: "Miss Campbell, having heard this, approached the cabin crew and asked them to make inquiries about the state of her baggage.
"Regrettably it was confirmed one of her items was one of those not loaded. Miss Parrish told the court that the model was "clearly upset". She added: "The reason why this was so awful for her was that she was contracted to wear a particular Yves Saint Laurent outfit on a US chat show and it was in the bag that hadn't been loaded. "Having heard that Miss Campbell had been affected by the baggage difficulties, he [Captain Sutherland] took the unusual decision to come and speak with her and explain the situation and make his apologies."

'A racist'
The court was told Ms Campbell became upset and demanded to know where her bag was.

Campbell swore at the captain and said she wanted him to get off the plane and get her bag.
As the captain walked away, Campbell said: "You are a racist, you wouldn't be doing this if I was white." The court heard BA staff asked Campbell to leave the plane but she continued to shout and swear and talk into her mobile phone, so the police were called. The prosecution said Campbell kicked one of the officers in the thigh. She kicked another officer in the shin, wedged herself in her seat and spat at the officers, the court was told.

Simon Nicholls, defending, said Campbell had paid a lot of money for the flight and that the bag contained clothes which were the "tools of her trade". Mr Edwards said: "It was an extraordinary circumstance at Terminal 5. People were wound up and at the end of their tether and it was an unfortunate situation. "It has been a long day and it was very hot in the building and Naomi was close to fainting so she is tired, but relieved it has all been dealt with." Her lawyer Simon Nicholls said: "All my client wanted [was] to be dealt with as though she was anybody else."
