The supermodel Naomi Campbell, who has twice pleaded guilty to assault charges in the last three years, hit her driver on Tuesday as he drove through Midtown, the police said. She then ran away after the driver pulled over, they said.

The driver had a small bruise under his eye from hitting the steering wheel after Ms. Campbell struck him, the police said.

As of Tuesday evening, investigators had not found Ms. Campbell to question her about the midday episode, which happened at the intersection of Second Avenue and 58th Street, the police said. No charges have been filed.

“There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment,” said Jeff Raymond, a spokesman for Ms. Campbell. “Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye.”

The police account was reminiscent of legal scrapes involving Ms. Campbell in New York and elsewhere.

In 2008, she pleaded guilty in England to assaulting two police officers at Heathrow Airport in London. She was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and fined $4,600.

In 2007, she pleaded guilty in New York to reckless assault for hitting her maid in the head with a cellphone the year before. She was sentenced to five days of community service and anger management classes.

On Tuesday, the police said the driver was taking Ms. Campbell to Astoria Studios when the episode occurred. The driver approached a traffic agent, who then called the police.

The driver was taken to a local precinct for questioning and was treated there for the bruise under his eye.

Jesus! I thought my homegurl would have learned by now!

The PR guy is so right ... please don't rush to judgment, we don't understand what happened here at all ... we need to know more  The other person can be wrong, and you still don't need to be violent.

I can only assume she's been able to hush some incidents up, but even based on just the ones that have gone to court, the pattern is abundantly clear ... she's angry, she's violent, when is she going to get some help? Hello, the anger management classes aren't working ... If she were more important, this would be about the time for Anna Wintour to make a phone call

Police in New York say supermodel Naomi Campbell's chauffeur will not press criminal charges after he accused her of punching him.
Ms Campbell is alleged to have hit the driver from behind, causing his head to hit the steering wheel, as they drove through New York.
Police said they did not expect to make any arrests after the incident.
The 39-year-old model has been sentenced to community service over previous incidents of assault.
A spokesman for Ms Campbell, Jeff Raymond, had said she would co-operate voluntarily with the police, adding: "There is more to the story than meets the eye".
Although Ms Campbell did not speak to the police directly, her assistant went to the police station where the driver gave his account, AP reports.
Police issued a harassment report, which carries no penalty.
Outbursts
Ms Campbell's driver, who had been hired for the day, told police that he pulled his black Cadillac Escalade over to the side of the road in central Manhattan after she struck hit him from behind, propelling his head forward on to the steering wheel.
The 27-year-old driver told police that he had picked up the model from a Manhattan hotel and was taking her to the Astoria Studios in the borough of Queens.
In 2000, Ms Campbell pleaded guilty in Toronto to assaulting an assistant who said that the model hit her on the head with her mobile phone.
She served a five-day community service order in New York in 2007 after admitting reckless assault, having thrown a mobile phone at her housekeeper.
In 2008, she was sentenced to 200 hours' community service in the UK after she pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers on board a plane at London's Heathrow airport.
Several of her former aides and maids have also sued her, accusing her of violent outbursts.

if it's true, i really don't like how some people laugh it off, just because she is Naomi Campbell. it's not okay to hit anybody and it's not like "oh, Naomi did it again, haha. she has such a temper :D"
it's not a temper; it's something she really needs to cure.

I find her very stupid. Hit and Run? How lame. At least stay and fight like the man she is.

She should be punished for this. Honestly you'd think she'd learn. She comes off as very egotistic. I don't care who she is, no one should get away with that.

I'm sorry, I know that violence is terrible in any form, but somehow whenever I hear that Naomi has slapped the sh*t out of someone yet again, I can't help but laugh. Homegirl needs to chill, seriously. Maybe do some yoga or something because that anger management therapy obviously did not do anything to help her.

she is a spoiled girl , she should go down to earth and take a look to the real world , or maybe a month in a jail like Paris Hilton will do the job

Oh Naomi, i still love her but some day she'll meet the wrong person :innocent:
No she won't.
Like any good bully, she knows how to select a victim that won't or can't fight back.
She doesn't have an anger management problem, otherwise she would have gotten in a real fight by know. She's just a bully who likes to slap around the 'little people'.

The driver won't press charges. He has probably been paid off:

The driver, Miodrag Mejdina, has declined to press charges, though suffered bruising and swelling under an eye — he said that Campbell struck on the back of the head while he was driving, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel. Mejdina had been hired to chaffeur Campbell's boyfriend, the still married Vladislav Doronin, a year ago, and Campbell had tried to call both men, but neither picked up their phone. She was mulling over the accident again yesterday, according to the driver, and accused Medjina for covering for Doronin before slapping him. Campbell's spokesman noted of the incident: “There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment. There is more to the story than meets the eye.”

^ Oh, well that explains it all then

And here I was thinking the 'more than meets the eye' was the part of his contract he forgot that says he can't press charges when Miss Campbell gets violent

Well now we know that the "Naomi hit me and I liked it" t-shirts will be fashionable once again.
I've always wanted one of those.

with all her charity work i thought she'd be passed this sort of immaturity.

To be honest I think people want to give her a break!

Yeh she has a fiery temper and yeh maybe she did hit the guy... but what made her hit him? Maybe he deserved it? Maybe she never hit him at all and he is just at it... wanting money!

I think celebs when they get this sort of press are often actually the inocent ones... you imagine being them... in so many ways it must be great... but in so many ways it must be hell... especially when your as famous and envied as someone like Naomi... constantly under the spotlight...

So I'm thinking maybe he did deserve it... and so what if she did slap him... there is nothing wrong with it if he actually deserved it? Do we know why she hit him... i've seen no mention of it!?!?! Shes a fiesty woman who takes no sh!t... I'm the same... and thinking how many of you... depending on why she did it may have reacted the same.... If he was abusive im sure I might have acted just like her!
