It is too bad she didn't have that much of a career in movies, kind of like Olivia Hussey, another really special actress in my opinion (Romeo and Juliet, 1968). As I've said somewhere else, she could have been the Scarlett Johanson(sp?) of her generation. If you haven't seen her in "Stay as you are" with Mastroianni, rent it, the first scene in which she appears is extraordinary. I loved her in "Cat People" too. The strawberry scene in "Tess" is unbelievable. All because of her.
Then she kind of disappeared, not completely, but she lost her aura for the media, and became underused by the industry. Probably her own choices too. For me, she is a combination of Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn, with mystery added. I like that picture above of her, a close-up, she has darker hair, doesn't look like a movie star, very more mature and still extraordinary.
Did you know that Jodie Foster wrote a piece on her for, I think, either Rolling Stone magazine of Interview ? It sounded like she was a little bit in love, and who can blame her ?
