Natalie Portman: engaged & had a baby boy!

Yay! Congrats to her and Benjamin. Surprising news but I couldn't be happier for her. I just saw Black Swan the other night and it was amazing. Her performance was breathtaking. I really hope she takes home the Oscar.

She should win the Oscar based on her perfomance alone, no one deserves it more this year. And here's a little reality check for the pregnancy would help rumors :flower:
I don't agree. Either Natalie plays the emotional unstable woman-child or it's just a sh.t movie all around. The women who will likely get nominated (Kidman, Benning, Williams) deserve it more because they're not limited. Natalie is. Out of every 10 movies Natalie makes, only 1 is genuinely good. And she talks from her @ss too. A lot.

But that's my opinion, really.

^I find Nicole Kidman a horrible actress but then again thats my opinion. Everythings subjective and in the end its majority and Natalie definitely has majority..

Hmm, I don't know about that. Natalie may have majority with the general public, but does she have it with the acting community?

She has done really well in her career, even her tiny role in Cold Mountain still sticks with me, more so than nicole kidman's performance, which was well done as well. She is young and for someone like her to give her everything in such a twisted character in Black Swan deserves something. Perhaps not a win but at least a nomination. I am think Michelle Williams will get the win

I agree

what is up with people announcing they are engaged AFTER they get knocked up? is it supposed to make them look classier than people who are already married when they become pregnant?

^^^ meh, I think sometimes a pregnancy fast tracks a relationship and decisions like that

^^^ Some people, especially those of a religious nature, think it's their duty to get married now that she's pregnant. I know that Natalie is Jewish and I don't know about her hubby-to-be, but my guess is that it's theological move.

^ Or pressure from her dad. Her father's pretty old-fashioned, from what I hear. In the past, he has advised against certain roles because they were too racy. Supposedly he did not like that she did Black Swan because of the sexual tones in the film.

^the rumor that her father was displeased with BS was debunked ages ago by Portman herself :flower:

^ I was going to say... I thought her role in Closer was much more scandalous than in Black Swan.

And what about Leon? That one was pretty  The European version was, anyway

Jesus, leave this girl alone! She's pregnant and it's wonderful. She has a fantastic man. Let leave her to be happy!!

And what about Leon? That one was pretty  The European version was, anyway

1. there are two versions?
2. what scenes were  for you?

^it isn't attack or ironic question, i really just don't know, here in poland we have one version :flower:

^ They altered the film for American audiences (who typically tend to be more sensitive to such subject matter) and the American version is called The Professional or Léon The Professional and the european version is simply called Léon.

Indeed, in the french version the relationship between Leon and Matilda (Natalie Portman) is more obvisously sexualized and they sleep together. At that time she was only twelve. The movie is kind of controversial because it gives an acceptable image of pedophilia.

^they just sleep sleep though, just to clarify for those who haven't seen it, not having sex! :D
