Net-A-Porter

NAP should honestly start now.
i have a feeling they are getting organised.
i see items being called either "new season" or "fashion essential" and those without a subtitle might go into sale?
either way, given the economic climate (yes im also bored of hearing it all the time), they NEED to adapt and bring on the sale if they wanna sell more.
and where did i hear that they are opening a new website called
OUTNET.com?
basically an outlet for all the unsold goodies :brows:

That is weird. I never got an email from them about the VAT thing, but I am registered in the UK so maybe that's why?

they had free shipping to australia for a while and i missed it :(
has anyone bought from their US website and had it shipped to Australia?

^ yes, it just takes a little longer. like an extra two days haha. Pity about the exchange rate.

Do you need to sign for their packages set to Australia? Who do they ship with?

usps i think it was
I know you're supposed to sign for the packages, (even on the nap website it says, for insurance purposes, you should note any damage to the package when you sign) but i've never been home when aus post has dropped my nap packages (or any other online purchase) off and grrr, they've just handed it to whoever has been home...
i think it's just aus post being completely slack because when i've ordered packages from an international location, i've had to sign and they would never leave anything ..just a note that they would attempt redelivery

Hmm, sometimes I've had to sign for international packages and sometimes they just leave the stuff at the door... I'm not sure I've ordered anything that has been shipped via USPS before though, I guess it'll be trial and error!

aris,
browns does have a GREAT mark down this season!! i checked it out last night
NAP is the usual stingeball!!! 20% here, 30% there.... it doesnt really help :(

Yup.... I read the same on NY Magazine

"If you can't afford anything on high-end online shopping site Net-a-Porter, 2009's your lucky year. Because in February founder Natalie Massenet is slated to launch a Net-a-Porter's outlet site, the Outnet. Think heavily reduced designer goods à la Bluefly. We're pretty excited about this one. Then again, with all the sales these days, it seems like the world is our Bluefly."

LIke it Aris!

Does anyone know whether I can pay in sterling if I am based in France?! My billing address is french, but I can have stuff delivered to a UK address and I have a sterling account. This is the only way I'll be buying stuff on NAP in the future as the Euro prices are totally skewed in light of the pounds massive depreciation!

In light of the extreme stinginess of NAP - 20% is not a sale extravaganza in my book! - I don't have high hopes for The OutNet!

Grill, I think if you have an addy in UK and GBP credit card - you can do it. I sent them a question on what exchange rate they are using to turn GBP to Euro as it looks they are using whatever is comfortable for them and they never answered my e-mail. Unlike any other British online shops that are using the current exchange rate NAP is having their own exchange rate - on top of this if you are in EU you'd need to pay additonal VAT in your own country.
Better check out Matches, Browns, Pollyanna, my-wardrobe.com
Start London, at least we can support the UK economy and have some savings too.... LOL!

i havent yet

ive been having so much trouble with them lately RE a payment.
apparently they need more security so they refunded a small amount onto my card and wanted me to state that amount to them WHICH I DID! but they keep saying that is NOT the amount!
i honestly just placed an order with them our of boredom and cant be bothered to send emails back and forth (at my 5th or so) and receive automated responses!!!
so i will tell them ONCE more that the amount is the one i already gave to them otherwise cancel my bloody order!!

sorry just cant stand these people anymore!!

LOUSY SERVICE

wow really? ive ordered before and everything has gotten smooth.

altho, once when i was in new york staying at my boyfriend's i ordered a dress but since my credit card's address didnt match up with the hipping address (my boyfriends house), they refused to let me order the dress even tho i talked to them over the phone. it was very annoying.

yep, this is the first time this happens.
i have ordered from them quite a bit but this makes it so annoying.

when i order online it is OFTEN just because not because i have to so if icant have it then then i tend not to want it at all!
this is what happened now.
by the time this order gets accepted, i got my tee, sunglasses and earrings from down the road *tsk tsk*

they just bore me these days...

Thanks for your handy pointers Aris! I actually ended up buying the item directly from Chloe in London rather than through NAP. (Bizarrely the exact same item was cheaper in the store than on NAP even at the GBP price with the new 15% VAT rate and yes, the item was new season not sale merchandise!) Typically, I'll avoid NAP unless its a last resort or there's free shipping...as I don't like swallowing the steep shipping charges.

I am aware of Browns and Matches stores and websites and although good, I can't help wishing that the UK had a fashion website to rival the States' Eluxury, Bergdorfs and Saks websites!
