There's no stopping Nicola Formichetti. Having been catapulted into the style spotlight thanks to his role as Lady Gaga's 'fashion director', the next project for the 34-year-old is to launch his own fashion line.

In an interview with MilkMade.com , Formichetti revealed how there will be a "sneak preview" of his new label in the pop-up store, Nicola's, that he is planning to open in Manhattan during New York Fashion Week.

The half-Japanese, half-Italian multi-tasker already has several job titles to his name: he is the fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan and fashion retailer Uniqlo, in addition to his creative director role at French fashion house Mugler, which he recently relaunched with a little help from his friend Lady Gaga, who modelled womenswear on the catwalk.

Formichetti seems adamant that his own line won't compromise his tenure at Mugler: "I want Mugler to become a digital global brand. I want to create a new kind of fashion brand, a new way of looking at fashion and take a step into digital communication," he said in the interview. "A kind of brand that hasn't been seen before, something new for our next generation. We need to take fashion to the next level! Its needed right now. It's just a start…"

So what can we expect from Formichetti's eponymous label? We're thinking that Miss Gaga will provide the inspiration, so that's less daywear and more partywear, with lashings of black leather, studs and high heels that require a health warning.

who is funding this little project, i wonder...
...

can he just go away... why don't you work on the Mugler line that you failed at revamping before moving to something else

AKA something worse than Mugler. If that's even possible.

I know, right? As a new-ish "designer", it is not a smart career move to launch two lines when you should be spending all your time on reviving Mugler. If he ever got to the level of Tisci(which will never happen), then he could consider it. Too cocky for his own good:yuk:

it's not even funny, why don't you just keep working on your styling jobs?

I so wanna tumblr this thread and tag him so he can read what we think of him.

And yes, if I was a Mugler investor, Id be PISSED that he´s already doin another line after his watershed effort for the french label.

I *do* think its gonna be better than Mugler becaseu he will be more free ... but on the other hand, how often can he do the same studded, veiled and black leather thing again?

Im salivating! Throw him to the wolves! WE ARE HUNGRY!

Oh God, and he still hasn´t had enough? I have.

LoL, I hope it has tons of bad skin revealing and sequined trash. Makes it so much easier to laugh at the delusion he calls fashion. Slave to his own foolishness, love people like that. They are like lobotomized lab rats, always following same failing pattern.

Exuse my question, but why is he so infamous?

I don't know either ...

I liked him as a stylist and as D&C editor ...
As a consultant for Mugler, I don't know yet (I think the designer he's chosen has no skills) ... I feel like his ideas and concepts are pretty close to what was Mugler's initial statements (powerful and sexual women, re-sculpturing bodies) - with a too strong dark touch, though. The big issue, as said, is that I believe this french designer they've chosen is un-skilled for good designs and lines and make the ideas concrete. Moreover, when Mugler started what he used to do was pretty innovative, now it feels like these kind of ideas are very déjà-vu. Maybe they would need to reinterpret these old ideas in todays reflexions. Do women still have to affirm their place as Mugler wanted them ?

What strikes me here is :

"I want Mugler to become a digital global brand. I want to create a new kind of fashion brand, a new way of looking at fashion and take a step into digital communication," he said in the interview. "A kind of brand that hasn't been seen before, something new for our next generation. We need to take fashion to the next level! Its needed right now. It's just a start…"

Omg, the comments are are hilarious!

Id like to see the collection first and then judge, but once you've got a person with a really bad reputation with fashion fans... than the expectations dont seem that high...

^^ agreed, he's scrambling to make all the money he can before all of us eventually rise up over whoever is supporting him (i've yet to see anybody on here back him up, at least) and kick him out! formichetti please go away, we don't need your ideas or your change, least of all do we WANT it!
