Olivia Palermo

I love the way she looks in those last pics... not so much foundation, and she doesn't look as uptight. Not keen on the outfit, though.

but I won't be suprised if she's actually like that in real life too. I was the few people at the very beginning (circa the bc the feud with tinsley era) found her to be very gorgeous and with great style. but after watching the show... she doesn't seem interesting anymore. still look pretty with fabulous collection of accessories. but as a person... meh:blink:

Well in defense of Olivia (because I'm a diehard Olivia fan ), this is what she said in a recent interview. It makes complete sense, and I think the things she says applies not just to her, but also several other characters that are portrayed in a negative light on reality TV shows. I also think her whole conflict with Erin is exaggerated by MTV. You can tell that they edit facial expressions and dialogues that are responses to other situations into another situation. Same with Whitney's conversations with other people.

YZ: What are some things we wouldn't know about you from watching "The City?"

OP: Well, there’s a lot people don’t get to see. I think for the most part you see me in a stressful work environment butting heads with a coworker… and of course there’s a lot that takes place that eventually ends up on the editing room floor. Unfortunately you don’t get to see me with the people I really love and care about and how I interact with them, which is very different from the way I interact with most people on the show.

YZ: It’s not a secret that reality shows do not always match the reality. How do you feel about your portrayal on the show?

OP: I know that people who watch the show tend to feel like they know me, but there’s a lot more to me beyond what you see on The City. I don’t think that the 10 minutes of screen time I get every week can really give anyone a true sense of what I’m like as a person. Whether its negative or positive, I think what you see of me on the show is a very limited aspect of my life and my personality.

Sorry... I feel idiotic for making a big deal out of a reality tv show :ninja::ninja::ninja: Don't get me wrong, I do respect your opinion!

^ I liked that interview! I cringe at how Olivia is portrayed on The City and really hope she is not as "useless" and dispassionate as the show makes her out to be. Anyhow, for the most part she is shown in a negative light so if I were her, I'd leave the show... Although Olivia's the only reason why I watch the show.

Yes, they edit to make a story, however she is caught red handed alot of the time.

She's in over her head at Elle. I find it hard to believe that they'd let her work there... it's obvs. for Elle to get publicity. PR Director Erin is obvs. doing her job well! ;)

^^^ ditto! Plus I can't shake the feeling that in all the interviews she's just "trying" to be nice, whereas on the show we actually get to see her true colors. For me it begins with the scornful intonation in her voice. She definately has a bad attitude in her job environment: first bossing Whitney around and now disrespecting her co-worker. And her saying that she does treat the people she knows and cares about differently - what a shocker, really!
I know this is a style thread, so I'm going to stop ranting about her unpleasant attitude, it's just that I can't stand people who think they are so much better than everyone else :innocent:

Yeah same here! But she does make $12,000 per episode... I actually wouldn't mind being portrayed as a b*tch if I were paid that much :lol:

She should strive to behave civilly with everyone especially people at her job-- that's just basic professionalism. They say you can judge someone by how they treat waiters or other service workers. I shudder to think how Olivia treats her help.

There's no doubt Olivia's a beautiful woman but her ugly personality is starting to mar her beauty in my eyes. At least I can still admire her outfits if not the person wearing them.

^ agree, what kind of dumb answer was that? sorry. But you should be nice to ALL people and not only the ones you love! Lol. She just confirmed she IS a b*tch. Of course I'll be still loving her style though, b*tch or not.

Please remember to stay on topic. This thread is to discuss Olivia's style, not her work on The City. There is a thread specificallt for the show in the Entertainment section of the forum, thankyou.

I don't even know why people let their naivety to believe what is said and done on a MTV "reality" show like The City....Seriously I usually go whatever, when someone comments on "personality" that is presented through the public but I don't want to be those members that just brags on people bragging. Have you met Olivia? I use to dislike celebs but I understand its the way media has shaped their persona. Usually if someone does seem nasty or unpleasant I just go "Oh I'm not interested in that person"

Sorry for the rant but I recently went to a lecture meeting about how media affects our thinking of people and the generalization of things because we have no sense of common thinking and choose to think the way whats presented in-front of us. Anyways all I'm saying get over it and look at her shoes.

People should know already that The City is about as real as Joan Rivers' face. She probably isn't a b*tch.

True. Although judging what one can from that old "City" promo shot above, she sure didn't seem comfortable with Whitney and her peeps. She may not be an all out b*tch but I think there is definite tension there. The new one is pretty.

To me, it just looks intentional. Look at the last picture. Everyone except Olivia looks like they are having fun. They probably told her to do a frown and a bitchy face.

Tweet from NylonMag 5 minutes ago...

Spotted: Leighton and Olivia Palermo at the Swarovski party. Which is kind of perfect since many speculate O is the real life Blair!

Knew they'd have to cross paths at some stage... Can't wait to see some pictures! :crush:

Yeah I agree, it's a bit obvious :p

LOL

And I agree with all of you saying the City isn't real and portraying only a small part of what's really going on, but that doesn't change the fact that every time I listen to Olivia speak (and I don't mean on the show) I can't stop thinking how fake and forced she sounds. Sorry, I just don't buy it. In my eyes she comes across as a very stuck-up and bitchy person with an I-know-all-better attitude. But as someone on this thread said - "get over it and look at her shoes!" And I guess that's exactly what I've been doing here :flower:
