seems to be an interesting theme that i have seen here and there in major and avant garde designer shows. please post pictures of this new trend.

Maybe you could start things off by posting a few of your favorite examples??

perhaps, I can help push off with these examples. I saw this trend start last season and am so glad to see it's full blown fabulous now. :flower:

Just one of my current favorites.

They are beginning to grow on me! I think I really like them now!

 With floaty, girly dresses and sheer tights. Especially when they have a punky, fetish edge

^ those white ones look nice with the black tights.

I'm not too fond of this trend, at least not for myself.

I think it looks interesting, to the extent of looking at in pictures or spreads, but definitely not practical. Kind of ridiculous in real life, actually. :innocent:

betty, credits so we know where you saw them! I think the second ones are Givenchy, right?

I agree, this trend looks right with tights or socks.

The majority of open-toe boots I've seen are mostly lace-up boots that have open toes. Personally, I think this is just a way to open-toe everything. I think peep-toes are for pumps and flats only. Not boots. Not sneakers. Not UGGs. Not even high-heel oxfords. Either pumps or flats. Open-toe boots just don't look right to me. I almost immediately think sandals when I see an open-toe shoe. I think of sleek footwear to wear with boots and booties. You can't say sleek with any open-toe boots. Some blog comments I saw on some other website talked about how your feet could sweat in open-toe boots like the ones we're mentioning in this thread.

Here are three open-toe booties for perspective, courtesy of Lucky Magazine: < http://www.luckymag.com/style/obsessions/2008/04/open_toe_booties >. I don't like boots with open toes. I still almost exclusively think cold weather with boots. I've seen some nice closed-toe ankle boots and booties before. If I was a femme and wanted to show my feet, that's why I'd wear sandals or peep-toe pumps. NOT open-toe boots or whatever.

how fabulously impractical, but don't get me wrong, I'll buy them

I love the trend especially worn with tights, now i just need to find a pair in my price range:doh:

I absolutely love this...
I'd love a pr. of flat tall boots with open-toes...
So cool & sexy looking...
They're a bit trickier when a heel is involved,
but of the ones posted I love blk. ankle booties with the wooden heel...
Are those Valentino, lucky?

^^wheneveriwakeup here's some flat tall boots for you! i'd kill for any of them! lol!

I think the ones you like are the Marni's. to me, those are an investment piece and I knew it the minute I saw them.

the SM flat boots were a favorite of mine when I saw them last season. I think those were the ones that got me started on the open toe boot kick. I really got excited by the new direction in boot design and the many options that started showing up. open toe boots are refreshing, a wave of a forward thinking design for those of us that love to live in boots. sometimes I think there are boot girls and there are shoe girls...I dread having to put my boots away for warmer weather and rejoice when the nights gets cool. the open toe makes it feasible to wear boots during the warmer months because they look great without or with socks.
