Organic Cigarettes

Natural tigers will kill you.

My boyfriend smokes the full-flavored American Spirits. They taste pretty good (though I'm not into full flavored), but for me, they're too expensive. I prefer Parliament Lights.

What I don't get is, surely if you were interested in saving the planet, you wouldn't be smoking?

I think smoking, like fur, cannot be defended in any way. There's no legitimate reason for it and I think it's absurd when smokers get upset when areas become "smoke-free." Why would they advocate something that's killing them?

There is a thred for Do You Smoke where people can say yes or no and state their case for or against. This thread is for info on organic cigs. only.

well, if anyone is interested in other alternatives to traditional cigs, i highly recommend the arabian hookah/arguile. very smooth, tasty and relaxing ! the tobacco is wet, burns for half an hour, and comes in a variety of flavors.
tough to carry on the street of course... but it's not really for "addicts."

I wonder if these organic cigarettes are the beedies...
that's how we call these kind of - disgusting - cigarettes in France...
it's really horrible and it smells sooo bad...

In France, people are talking about the new electronic cigarettes...
It's a new way to stop smoking... You buy a fake cigarette and put some nicotine powder in it... When you smoke it, there's nothing bad in it (li.e : thse chimic products in the real ones)... there's only nicotine... and whn you breath out, it's water vapor so it isn't bad for your entourage, nor it is for your health....

I had this exact idea about five years ago. The "fake cigarette" would be this reuseable long, slender, elegant tube. You could get them in silver or gold or studded with jewels or designer logos, and charge them up periodically with powdered nicotine. You'd inhale the nicotine by sucking on one end, just like a real cigarette. But there's no smoke, so you can use one anywhere.

But I never tried to patent the idea because I figgered I'd go straight to hell. Seems like someone else made a deal with the devil! :D

Organic cigarettes sounds like a funny idea to me. Cigarettes kill you... Why does it matter if they are organic or not? Ok so maybe you won't get all the chemicals that are in regular cigarettes, but you're still doing a lot of damage to your body by smoking them. :innocent: Organic farmers should be growing more important things that are actually beneficial to our bodies!

I don't think people are concerned so much with the health.
I think it's more about the taste of the cigarettes.
They know it's going to kill them, why not enjoy the taste more while doing it?

I think it's also tobacco's way of jumping on the trendy and profitable organic movement.

Wouldn't labeling cigarettes as organic be an oxymoron? Organic means natural, thus something that's beneficial to you, which cigarettes aren't.

please be advised that in the united states organic actually means something legally well-defined, while natural can be very vague (e.g. companies can use it any way they please with little relation to what a normal consumer would associate with "natural"). tangerine mentioned it before--this has to do with labeling laws/usda regulations/etc.

then again if these cigarettes are imported their labeling can be hit or miss and even if it doesn't say 'organic' explicitly they very well could be...:flower:

cheers.

Besides brokenenglish's good points, there is also this to consider: some smokers may, despite their willingness to smoke, be concerned about the effect of chemicals used in commercial farming on the earth, and want to limit the damage caused by pesticides, etc.

That's very true. I guess if you're going to smoke, smoke something organic so it doesn't pollute the world with harmful chemicals and pesticides. :flower: I actually do like that idea better.
