Big Handbags

I've been noticing more and more big bags in recent years. Just out of curiosity, who else like big bags? In your opinion, how big is too big? Or is there no limit?

(I really like the second one, from Neiman Marcus)

Wow, that first one looks HUGE! I remember thinking the LV L' Extravagant (sp) looked nice in the pictures...but it was ridiculously huge in person. I wouldn't use that unless I were traveling.

The second bag looks okay though, I'd do a reasonably large bag, nothing larger than the cambon reporter bag though.

The first one is really too huge in my opinion. For travelling, if I need to bring a lot of stuff on the plane, I prefer instead a beautiful backpack with plenty of compartments and pockets, not too small, nor too big. The second bag is very good for everyday's use, I use bags like that, as I often bring books or my camera. But I think the straps of this one should be longer, it must be impossible to carry it on your shoulder if you wear a coat or a jacket.

I agree with elsa, the first one is too big for everyday use. I    big bags though. I own the Fendi spy, and I just love it's size.

who is this bag by???? itz REAALALALLLALALLLLLYYYYYY CUTE!:woot:

Who made the first bag?(Post 15) It's ENORMOUS!

Just for the record, the first bag in post 15 (Ashley Olsen's) is a travelling bag. Look for the suitcase behind her. I believe she was travelling to Mexico, but I don't think it was her purse. No clue who it's by though, sorry!

Yea, I noticed that too. Or else it would be ridiculous to carry a big that size on daily basis.;)

Lately we have seen many small girls toting around HUGE bags that look as if you could fit a small child in them...:p
this is quite clearly a result of many girls following what they see certain 'celebs' in hollywood wearing...

how do you feel about this?
do you like the look?
do you think it is stylish or do you think it is ridiculous...?

...i think a lot of people don't know/understand about proportions...
and the large bag is just too big for a lot of people who are carrying it...
this goes for a lot of mj bags and other brands as well...
hermes birkins for example...

bigger isn't always better...
lol.gif
...
i think the large really only works on models- mostly because they are almost 6ft tall....
everyone else just looks like a HUGE victim imo...
getting the size/proportion right for your own proportions is actuallly quite tricky and makes a big difference in the overall 'style/chic-ness' of a 'look'...IMHO...
this is MY opinion...

**what do you all think?...
yay or nay on the oversized bag thing?...

^_^

Nay ;)

Like you said, proportion is key.
Too large and it looks like you are DESPERATEly aiming to show off your IT bag, which is just that.. desperate
Desperate = NOT good!
I prefer people see me rather than my bag, anyway :D

I have to say, in general, yay. I've been carrying big bags for years for purely utilitarian reasons. I will agree, however, that there is such thing as too big when it comes to bags. Some look downright ridiculous. Currently I've been carrying my large Chanel tote almost exclusively because it's big enough to fit all my necessities plus the files I need when I'm working at the hospital. And it's open so I can access everything quickly. I couldn't survive without big bags. I simply have too much stuff

So what proportion would you define as the right proportion (against a person's height) ?

I like big bags, not too big but deinfitely not the ones where you almsot don't have place for anything other than a wallet. I agree that big bags can look strange on a lot of girls that are petit. I myself am quite tall and I think that a too small bag looks just as strange on me.

But then again I don't think that if you really love big bags that you should keep away from carrying them just because you're not 6 ft tall. As long as you don't overdo it completely.

Maybe when Ashley gets tired, she curls up in that bag for a little nap . She looks ridiculous with that bag and I bet she has to wear a counter-weight on the other side for balance B).

No wonder she is so short - the weight of her ridiculously big bag (and its counter-weight) is stunting her growth
