Paris Haute Couture S/S 08 Schedule: What Shows Are You Looking Forward To?

Well, gemaferron, you must be sure to take some great photos and, if you can, some little video clips!:p

Is this Valentino's last last show or was RTW the actual last time we see him. :(

^^This will be his last show.

I'm so excited because I don't have school Monday!!!! That means I can be glued to the computer all day long for DIOR!!!!!

^Don't get excited yet. I remember couture week over the summer. Everyone out of school, impatiently refreshing the D&C forum, waiting for pictures of the Versailles show that were hours late...

Oh, I can just picture it now.. 86 members and 112 guests viewing the Dior HC page (kidding)

What shows are you looking forward to and WHY? - Couture 08

With the excitement of couture week only days away, the mod team felt it would be fun to have a thread dedicated to discussing and predicting what we might see. We would like to keep it productive and we're asking that posters include reasons in their posts.

Keep in mind that this thread is for the couture shows only, and that threads for RTW and Menswear exist as well.

So let the speculations begin. ^_^

My list is Chanel, Dior, and Givenchy. (In that order.)

Chanel is always exciting for me, but I'll be completely honest, half the time I'm just looking forward to see what the set will be. They're always so amazing! But, of course, Chanel HC often is my favorite show clothing-wise of the entire season, including RTW. (Seriously, if I had a spare $100,000 lying around, I'd go straight there...I could totally pull off wearing one of those dresses.)

Dior, on the other hand, is so hit and miss. S/S 07 was incredible, but F/W 07 got a little repetitive after the initial high. With the lovely new CD business plan, I'm going to guess that this will be obnoxiously expensive-looking without any of the Galliano flair.

Givenchy should be good. Tisci's couture is always great, and I'm sure this season will be no exception.

^same order of preference (as usual right?)
for different reasons...
chanel will be best because it always is... it's beyond the set, it's the clothes, feeling that you've seen something 100 times, yet it's always changing, evolving... and of course because of karl! i cant wait to get more karl interviews!!

my comments on dior will either be... "not as bad as last season", or "just as terrible as galliano has been lately"... if there is a chance that he will present a decent show, i might even show a smile (don't get me wrong, i want this to be very good, but he's been so bad lately)

tisci is the youngest of all, always fresh, always a certain feeling of art naif.... always beautiful!

i just wanna see the reactions to the latest of valentino. he'll probably show something non-cohesive, about 150 looks with everything he has in his to-do-list-before-i-retire, and everyone will cry and go mad for one of the 150 looks. if you do twice as much as the others, you get double chance that people will cry on your taffeta (my signature).
don't get to shocked with the list thing, it's exactly what he did with his last rtw collection (thank god he is leaving)

lacroix will probably show brocades and chrochet, as he always does... so that is not too exciting...

armani will be boring as he is always

saab... i couldnt care less (although it could also be a very pleasant surprise)

yeah...i'd have to say that givenchy is the one i am most interested in because he just seems to be on a roll and he also still has some freshness because he is still so new to the world of couture...

:flower:

Gaultier, because Jean Paul never disappoints, especially after the last two gorgeous couture collections.

Givenchy, because Riccardo is still fresh, however, he's trending towards repititious.

Im only interested in Dior b/c I want to see how tragic it will be.

I always like seeing what Galliano comes up with for Dior, regardless of if I like it or not. It's just part of the whole experience, I guess.

^^That's very true...I can't think of a single designer beside John who can get us to talk for HUNDREDS of pages here on TFS!!!...and it's usually his Dior Couture that really gets us going.

I'm always excited for Dior...ALWAYS. I can't even begin to speculate what theme John might use because my head just starts spinning (if only we had a way to keep track of his plane tickets...then maybe we would know where he jetted off to last to get some inspiration!)!

I'm really excited for JPG. He's really been on a roll lately and his couture has especially shown this, SS 07 and FW 07 were magnificent.

I'm really excited for Givenchy as well. Tisci has quickly become a favorite of mine. I hope that this show is dark and romantic as usual!

And of course, Lacroix....it'll probably be nothing new from him, but since when have I cared! Everything he does I worship!

And I'm not jumping with anticipation for Chanel, I'll just be happy when I see it.

Same here, Dior is my primary! And I'm always keen on Lagerfeld's collections, despite I know what I can expect, it's still surprising to see classic Chanel in a new way. I'm also quite curious for Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy (as the latest collection was horrible :ninja:)

Nothing terribly new to add to the list, I'm afraid.

I'm always excited to see what John does for Dior Couture, but I'm sad to say I'm very aprehensive this season. The f/w 07 collection was, well, less than stellar, far from stellar actually, and the s/s ready to wear didn't lessen my aprehension. I'm hoping that it's not historically inspired, unless he's gonna go back to ancient classicism or something. It's probably useless, but I'm hoping for something a bit dark, and preferably volume-free.

Tisci has been winning me over lately with his couture and I'm always looking forward to seeing his next move.

Valentino promises to at least be gorgeous beyond belief, and if his last rtw was anything to go by, it may be a little more youthful than it ever has been.

I hope so, too, that the Dior show won't be The New Look/ Vintage Dior mixed with some exotic culture again, like we've been seeing for the past few seasons (I mean, it was genius at HC FW 05 when he meshed Peruvian traditional costume with the New Look shape:rolleyes:...that was true creativity:heart:). Unfortunately, though, this new image for Dior seems to be one in which John must excessively reference the archives.-_-
