i woul have never guessed softie,
with all the black leather you're into lately....;)

I'm having a colour sea change...
It's temporary, i think, but i actually *don't feel like wearing black lately
which has created a bit of a crisis.

I'm really drawn to pale shades of grey and brown.....
dove grey, heather grey, blue grey, taupe, and also whites.
And the other day I bought a knit top that can only be described as raspberry.

This would be ok, except the vast majority of my wardrobe is black or navy,
especially stuff to wear on the bottom
And I have no idea what to do about stockings. :ninja:

So my outfits are not very satisfying to me these days...:(

^ Isn't that interesting!

Well, I love color, and still wear a lot of black ... skirts, pants, and most of my tights for winter (I go bare-legged in the summer) are black. I have some grey and brown ones too though ... try DKNY or Donna Karan, very good & not that expensive, and there should be a good selection in these colors. I think they sell the brown tights in a 3-pack. Or, if there's a "black out" in NY (hopefully not), once you know what size you like you can order online ...

Raspberry is going to pop beautifully against black, and it's also great with grey of course.

I would just embrace this as a new phase to explore

um- laika...
it's all about mixing the leather with some lace...^_^...and a bow or ruffle here and there...
:innocent:...

hey- i think raspberry would be amazing with navy on the bottom actually...
i have a top that is prune(?) and wear it with a navy skirt, navy tights and burgundy boots ( or you could do brown)...
and a burgundy scarf or sometimes a grey one...
sometimes with a grey cashmere cardi over top...
all those colours you describe sound lovely...

and seriously-
you aren't going to need to worry about tights are you?
you won't be able to wear them soon, it's getting too warm, no?

or is this already pre-planning for Fall?.......

i am just trying to figure out what the heck to wear tomorrow!!!...

haha...yeah- it's cold here today too ta-ta...
but tomorrow it's supposed to go up 20 degrees......

that's why i am confused about what to wear...
i need a more gradual transition in temperature, you know?!?...

Here a change of 20 degrees from morning to afternoon is not that unusual  One day recently I walked in to an appointment mid-morning wearing my long cashmere gloves--it was below 55 degrees because that's what I consider glove weather :p When I walked back out about 3 hours later (having carefully put my gloves and coat back on), it was 68-70 degrees & I felt like an idiot, & of course had to take it all off again.

Since my furnace is dead at the moment, any upward movement at all, however sudden, would be most welcome ... It's been pouring rain here for days now.

I want a floral tea dress, and none of the stores have floral tea dresses at the moment, lol. This is my personal style dilemma of the moment. What a hard life I live   :p

^ Have you tried vintage?

I've had a look around online for things, but I'm never too keen to buy vintage clothing online (just me) and there are no decent places that I've found around here... I might have to have a look when I'm O/S.

^ It's true ... even people who are expert at it say you must expect a high failure rate. I am unwilling to accept any failure rate at all ;) I'm a bit hard to fit, so don't do much shopping online ... I wonder if you could have what you want made? Fabric you should be able to buy online I would think ...

it's so good to remind ourselves of this on a regular basis...
:heart::heart::heart:...
when the toughest thing you have to decide is what to wear...you're probably doing ok...

:flower:

good luck with the search!..

thanks for coming to the rescue, softgrey and ta-ta.

This is not really something I have been "planning," more like a mood that's come over me. I am hoping to carry it through into fall though.

It will of course be easier when I no longer have to wear tights, but
i have been wearing some heather grey ones lately with a mid grey skirt.
I also got a pair of grey denim trousers from rogan that i love, they are super soft.

I have some silver footwear that i think will be good for spring,
but i think i also need something in brown leather, which i don't have.

ta-ta, for some reason i only pair black with other darks.
Never with bright or light colors...i am a low contrast dresser. :p

softie, that sounds like a lovely outfit. I hadn't thought of putting
grey over raspberry, but i will def. try it.
My new sweater is rasberry with some midnight blue woven in, so
it think putting it with navy is a good idea.

Lace is lovely with leather, although i always have a hard time finding the right kind of lace. I love the lace accents on this Vanessa Bruno top...they are so light and feathery.

glad to be of some assistance if possible miss laika....

i saw that top too...
i think the lace in the armholes is weird though...:ninja:...
...

maybe it's not so much leather and lace for me after all, as it is leather and cashmere...?
still with the ruffles (or frills as helena would say) and a couple of bows here and there...

you're right laika...
lace can be SO tricky...
i think i'll just stick to lacey undergarments...
:innocent:

Leather and cashmere, oh yes!
I don't own any leather garments at the moment,
But i love the idea of a leather skirt or pants with a cozy, fluffy sweater.

Textures go such a long way in adding softness (if not necessarily
sweetness) to a look....
Much harder to do this when it's warm out though.

Summer is approaching....:ninja: what to do, what to do??

I want a pair of tan sandals, and I am really hoping I can get my hands on a cartain Dries pair they would be perfect for my 'basic' looks.

I would love to find a perfect pair of shorts..easy to wear..slouchy perhaps a deep navy shade. Ebery summer

Summer is always an odd season in terms of style for me.

^ me too. I seriously hate the heat of summer. My style goes all wacko and seem to wear them same thing everyday...tank tops and skirts, tank tops and shorts, or a little dress. For me, it's just so uninspiring. :(

^^agreed! totally stuck when it comes to summer. i can't seem to find that perfect summer dress. been searching forever. i like the idea of buying the fabric and having something made. that never dawned on me. (duh).

This reminds me of an article I read about women can loosley fall into one of two catagories-a winter dresser,or a summer dresser. I am most definetly a winter dresser,I stuggle during summer. I can't do 'casual' like shorts with a tee, even when it's really hot I find myself in fitted shirts with a jacket  I think I'm getting better though. I can't ever dress appropriatly. And I'm awful at judging what the weather is like through looking outside through a window,I always get it wrong!
