I am having boot issues... as I can never find my size in boots I often have to size up, but I can never be sure whether it looks ridiculous or not, being so petite.

I have never seen you look remotely ridiculous. Do you have a pic of these shoes you have fallen for? :flower:

There is a search for a Supa Stylist happening in Oz right now, keen to hear everyone's opinions on the 5 finalists... ;)
HERE they are on the right hand side down the page!

Thanks for all the support guys.:flower:
I ended up getting the boots, they are from Balenciaga and are not in any of the lookbooks, so I can't find a picture.
It's the second pair of boots I've bought so far this season along with a pair from Margiela. I think I'm done for now.

I actually like that they are a little long, they are extremely narrow so it sort of works, they're very cool.

^glad to hear it pucci, will look forward to seeing you wear them! :flower:

laika - what shoes are these? I'm also loving pointy toe shoes again. Not super pointy, but a soft point ... Dries has been doing really good pointy shoes lately.

Now that fall clothes are in and I'm trying to decide what to buy, I've been thinking about the wardrobe a lot ... trying to be practical without turning into a mommy-in-the-park disaster. I'm thinking this means low heel or flat boots, cross body purses, cotton smock tops, unstructured blazers and coats, and jeans (a bit boring perhaps). Some dresses that button down the front. Luckily I have many workable things already, but I would like to add at least another smock top to the wardrobe. Although I did just buy a silk dress, which, despite the practical button front, is probably not the smartest fabric choice right now. It's hard to change!

I am also trying to be practical, tourist.
I try every season, really,
but, I am always sabotaged by the unexpected!

Everything you described sounds great though, and right in tune with your pre-mommy style. :flower:

Regarding the shoes...I have two pairs I have been playing with, one a navy patent pump with an elastic strap and the other a wedge/mule/bootie thing from Ann Dem. They both have sharp points, but they are not elongated, and i'm going to wear them with over the knee skirts and trousers. I'd been wearing a lot of quasi mini skirts with flats and very low heels for the past few seasons, and this just feels right to me right now. :p

^ sounds like a lovely direction laika! more elegant and maybe at times tougher than the minis with flats look. I know what you mean about being sabotaged ... I'm trying to be practical (even decided to return the silk dress) but everytime I see Dries this season, I think, surely there must be a reason that I *need* a python print clutch, no?

laika...
are those the same annd wedges that i was lusting after for awhile???...

:p

hmmm....i don't think so, softie, the ones i got don't have the detachable ankle cuff?

They are from the same season though. I didn't like them for the longest time, but my growing affection for pointy toes made me rethink them....

Et voilà, now they are working with everything. :p

***plus, they were seriously on sale. :innocent:

I'd love to see you post more pictures of your style laika, it sounds so inspirational.

I need to find more ways to wear my leather jackets... I just can't figure it out... perhaps a navy blouse would be nice, I don't want to go for the typical 'rock' look.

(Im so into mixing blue and black lately...and go more attached to high heels than before... like enjoying wearing them. Still im so boyish in some ways... but i like that... yeah this is all a contradiction...)
Im a chameleon when there's a need to but im like a mix between a grunge 90s era and a crazy 60s vibe... that's me basically.

I love simplyness.

For example:

*Dress with black tights and colorful flats, long-ish thin button up cardigan over.

*Tunic dress with leggings.

*Acid wash jeans with oversized black shirt and pink flats. Also some cute accessriez.

*Denm shorts, black tights, oversized black shirt, vintage belt and fe bracelets and ofcourse flats.

I like easy clothes, that I can move around free and just breath easily *hahha*
and I am working at kindergarden so comfort is the first thing in my mind when I am going to work, BUT I do not like to look frumpy eather, leggings with tunic is the best thing to wear at work.

Allways put some fun earrings or cute jewerly.

I love old looking bags, colorful flats and biker boots (I never wear heels), purple nailpolish, strawberry coloured lipgloss, cute jewerly especially with animal shape in them like bird necklases and elephant earrings, wavy hair and huge schal-ish scarves...oh and wool socks that my grandmmother has knitted!

I have two people in show bussiness whos style I look up to:

1. is my absolutely favourite, Keira Knightley. She is just so wonderful and I like her eays laid-back style. She can wear anything and still look fantastic.

2. Michelle Williams. She is just so chic and I love her simple style.

Call me boring but I do not like crazy outfits...or outfits that look too modern or outfits that look too vintage.
Personally I enjoy my easy and simple style!

pucci, navy sounds good. What about a sheer blouse with a high-ish neck...sort of streamlined victorian?
I imagine you want something feminine that still retains some minimalist qualities...

I actually think your new Balenciaga boots balance the leather jacket very nicely. :flower:

For the past few years, I've been a stripe person. Striped scarves, striped shirts (never both at the same time - I believe in such thing as 'over-matching.'), you name it. Now, i've completely purged my closet of stripes.

Boots, vnecks, black jeans have been my favorites lately. Also, I've been into these random accessories that I've made.

You know those bracelets with square blocks and letters painted on them? For a simple way casual look, I like tying them in the belt part on my jeans lately. Rarely though - it only looks good with certain things.

i gotta wear more of my stuff ...
period.
end of story...

i have so much amazing stuff...
i just have to remember to wear it all

*and i need some pants that fit!

^ I need to do that too. I was having a sort out on Wednesday and found some brilliant stuff tucked away in the back of the wardrobe shelves. A lot of it I had forgotten I even bought! Now I just need to get wearing it.

That is exactly my same case:cry:. Sometimes i even come accross pieces I didnt even remember about..., which makes me feel sort of guilty... Yeah, a shrink would have a lot to say about this, i know...

I seem to be in somekind of style rut..

Even thoush I love most of my clothes, I'm bored of them. While looking fore some new things to freshen my old things up I can't find anything I like. I'm not sure if I'm too picky or there just isn't anything. The things I do like don't fit in my current wardrobe wich is also frustrating . I'm stuck with the same colour scheme and basic style and don't know how to get further, so I'm a bit lost, and I don't know what to do. Until then I'll just wait for inspiration to hit me..

^ Do you have any pix to illustrate?

My camera broke last week, so no pictures unfortunately.
Last few days I got to think about colour. At the moment I mainly wear grey/green/white. These are the colours I feel most comfortable in. I think I should branch out to some other colours. Maybe some blue's or deep blue/greens... I find a lot of colours difficult to wear because they wash me out quickly, especially any warm colours or black.

The silhouette is also a issue, I'm pretty slim and tall wich makes me look very stick-like easily. Skinny jeans for example look ridiculous on me :ninja:.

But I think it's more then just a clothing issue, because I find that things in other area's of my life aren't working like I would want them to. And that seems to effect my dressing..
Maybe I should tackle one thing at the time :innocent:

^ Everything is interconnected ;) If you work on one thing, the rest will likely follow, so you could just pick the one you want to tackle.

Have you ever tried feng shui? We have a thread around here someplace ...

We also have that thread How to start the fashion thing ... and even though you aren't just starting, I bet some of the ideas in that thread would be good ones for you ...
