I don't know where else to post this so...Do you guys think this is "soooo" trendy it will look very dated in a few years, that thing that looks so very 2009 or is it the kind of thing that will a reoccurring theme in seasons to come?

depends on your personal style... if this is something you would wear 5 years agoa, then you may as well be wearing it in 5 years from now... if not, then yes, ithis is 2009 trendy...:flower:

I think I will go spending when I travel to Paris (pre or post sales whatever my schedule allows)

I would like to find a pair of black everyday shoes that are not dull with fantastic leather no ballerinas, no silver studs, without any obvious rock reference...

I am looking for the perfect black round neck wool jumper, I already have one but one simply isn't enough for something I feel like wearing all throughout winter.

It has so far been a warm winter in the uk, I have been wearing slouchy dresses with tights and boots, just order a merino mix one's from wolford today, if they don't work out I'll give the Falke one's a try.

One thing I found is that I can't find anything around me that is worth spending money on, which is also why I am hoping that Paris will have some great stock... is it just me? Everything around me just seems so bland.

I am craaaving to own LEVIS 501 the original boyfriend jean.
But at the moment I do not have any money, so I am wondering that does anyone have experiences about these jeans? How they fit...etc?
I might have to order them online since I did not find them from any store! wich is suprising because I tought they are kinda ´´basic´´...

I got compliments about my style today, wich was quite fun...
One woman said that I look allways so free-spirit and fresh and that my clothes have a quirky twist in them.
Kinda funny also, since today was like one of my worst days ever *hahah*

I am wondering if you, people at tfs, get lot´s of compliments about your style?

For me, not at all. I guess what I love in theory doesn't translate at all into what I wear in real life. We have uniforms for schools in our country and about a t-shirt made for every school event. So I basically just live in my multitude of school tees and FBT shorts.

Also because I'm a student and don't have money.

I don't think so. Rick Owens has been doing that style of leather jacket for years (I've always wanted one). I think it's a classic. Well, maybe not to the mainstream, but they don't know RO anyway.

Starting a job at a hedge fund on Monday where everyone dresses up -- suits, ties, the whole thing for men.

If I could wear sheath dresses year-round, I'd be set. But alas, a Chicago winter will not allow that. Or will it? Will it look silly to be in a sheath dress when it's snowing outside? I mean, once I am in the office, won't it look to be in context? Or should I stick with pants for the winter?

I don't get to wear winter clothes here in Hawaii-I guess most of you are jealous. But it's downright depressing to have to keep wearing tank tops, shorts, cuffed jeans, skirts and light fabrics in November! GRRR
I love to wear my boyfriend's beautiful Brooks Brothers shirts, they are so light. So when it cools down a bit I will wear them with my grey jeans and my Keep shoes (think Keds, but SO MUCH cooler and in a an ombre purple mauve graduated color!) and maybe even my ankle Minnetonkas. And it's so nice to be able to wrap a scarf loosely around your neck and not be sweating within 5 minutes.
Yes,I am definitely looking forward to "winter"!!

Can't you just wear a jacket over the dress? Maybe boots to keep your legs warm?

Jacket or sweater, yes. Boots, no, sadly! I don't like how boots look on myself, especially not with a rather formal, businessy sheath dress.

I figure bare legs in the office is okay? Yes, I will look awkward on the train to work since it'll be snowing outside, but once I get inside shouldn't I look fine in context? That's all I care about. Be honest with me, will bare legs in the winter look stupid?

Pardon my reluctance to utilize tights and boots. *sigh*

^ No, not at all ... I wear just tights and pumps all the time. A nice heavy wool maxi coat should help ...

Wait, are you saying nothing on your legs at all?? Yes, that would look strange IMO ...

Btw, I bumped the What to wear to work thread for you.

fashionista-ta, thank you for bumping that thread! Didn't know it existed. ;)

Unless you're incredibly warm-blooded I think you're risking hypothermia waiting on an L platform in the winter with bare legs. How do you feel about some kind of leggings/thick tights/boots combo for the commute? As a year-round skirt wearer that was the only way I was able to survive the winter work commute...

Yes, boots are definitely IN for the commute. I always just change into pumps at work unless I take a taxi.

If I hate tights, is it horrifyingly stupid to just wear them for the commute and take them off before work? Or again, will I look really odd in the office with bare legs? That's the issue! fashionista-ta has put in opinion that it may seem a little odd. I wonder if I'll get anyone on my side! LOL

Sorry, I am a native Californian. I still haven't learned to navigate Chicago's brutal winters.

I don't know why I hate tights to much.

Personally, I don't think it's horrifyingly stupid...though, as I used to arrive at the office and head directly to the restroom to divest myself of all the layers I'd added in an attempt to stay warm...and therefore regain my (fine for indoors, lacking warmth for outdoors) outfit for the day...I may be a little biased :innocent:

Do you hate all tights? I'm wondering if you could manage some Balenciaga-ish pola dots instead of full-on opaques? Regardless, if you're comfortable with the whole "bare legs in sub-zero temperatures" I say go for it...

gleam-
i think that anyone who doesn't look comfortable looks stupid...
so- if you hate tights that much, you might look more stupid with them on...
but if you are shivering and uncomfortable from the cold, then you might look more stupid without them...
you have to figure out which one is right for you...

but- in general...in nyc...
when i see girls in very cold weather with no socks or no tights...
i def do roll my eyes and think to myself 'what an idiot'...
...

Who would wear skirt without tights when it is cold?
if you hate tights so much why don´t you just wear trousers or jeans?
